This past week, Royal Caribbean announced some major changes that should be exciting for both Galveston and New Orleans cruisers. After several years of not sailing from New Orleans, Royal Caribbean will be begin cruising from the homeport again in 2018. Royal Caribbean will be sending the Enchantment of the Seas to Galveston in summer 2018.
New Orleans will be receiving the Vision of the Seas. While sailing from New Orleans, the ship is primarily scheduled to sail 7 night cruises beginning in late 2018 for the winter 2018 cruise season. The Vision of the Seas is 915 feet long and has a double occupancy of 2,050, according to Royal Caribbean's website.
Galveston will be receiving the Enchantment of the Seas in June 2018. The Enchantment of the Seas will primarily sail 4 & 5 night cruises while in Galveston. Furthermore, the Liberty of the Seas will continue sailing 7 night cruises from Galveston too. Royal Caribbean will have two ships in Galveston during this time. According to Royal Caribbean's website the Enchantment of the Seas has 11 decks, is 989 feet long, and a double occupancy of 2,252 guests.
