Carnival Magic Receives Guy's Pig & Anchor BBQ Eatery

3/16/2016

Carnival MagicCarnival Magic
Many Carnival cruisers have heard of Guy's Burger Joint, but now a new BBQ establishment known as Guy's Pig & Anchor BBQ has made its debut.
The BBQ eatery will be open on sea days from noon to 2:30pm. During this time cruisers can enjoy meats including "Championship Pork Butt", "Blue Ribbon Chicken", "Andouille Sausage" and  "Sliced Smoked Round of Beef". A meal is not complete without sides and Guy's Pig & Anchor BBQ will offer sides consisting of, "Mac Daddy Mac N Cheese", "Old Skool Potato Salad", "Scratch Made Slaw", "Collard Greens with Smoked Turkey", and "Molasses Baked Beans With Bacon & Burnt Ends". There are also a variety of spices for cruisers to use on their food too. All of these food choices were inspired by Guy Fieri.
The best part about this new eatery is the food is complimentary. Carnival's press release noted that soda and beer will also be available, but for sale. The Carnival Magic's cruisers can find this eatery on the Promenade Deck outside on the Lanai. The eatery should be on the ship's starboard side (right side if you are facing the front of the ship).
Guy's Pig & Anchor BBQ will be expanded to other Carnival ships in the future. In a reply to a Facebook post, John Heald mentioned the Carnival Dream and Carnival Breeze will receive Guy's Pig & Anchor BBQ in their upcoming dry-docks.

Carnival Magic Returns To Galveston From Dry-Dock With Fun Ship 2.0

3/6/2016

The Carnival Magic's days of sailing from Texas are numbered, but the ship will finish its Galveston deployment with numerous upgrades. After a two week dry-dock, the ship has come back to Galveston. This was the Carnival Magic's first time to go to dry-dock. The ship entered service in 2011 and has been cruising since then. Here is a list of features added during dry-dock:

Guy's Burger Joint -  This is a popular Fun Ship 2.0 feature that Carnival has been slowly expanding to its ships. Guy's Burger Joint serves free hamburgers and french fries at lunchtime. Prior to getting Guy's Burger Joint, the Carnival Magic had a generic hamburger grill on its Lido Deck.

Blue Iguana Cantina -  The Blue Iguana Cantina is another feature Carnival will be adding to the Carnival Inspiration's Lido deck. The Blue Iguana Cantina serves burritos and tacos at lunch. Usually, the Blue Iguana Cantina also has some breakfast options too. To compliment tacos and burritos, Carnival's Blue Iguana Cantina also has a salsa bar. The salsa bar has a multitude of options available for cruisers. The Blue Iguana Cantina is complimentary!

Pizzeria Del Capitano -  This feature is complimentary!  Carnival's website states that Pizzeria Del Capitano has varieties of pizza and Caesar salad available 24 hours a day. My guess is this feature will be available somewhere on the ship's Lido Deck.

Red Frog Rum Bar -  The Red Frog Rum Bar serves frozen drinks and beer for cruisers to purchase. This new Caribbean themed bar will be located on the Lido Deck near the pool.

Blue Iguana Tequila Bar - The Blue Iguana Cantina Bar serves frozen drinks and beer for cruisers to purchase. This new Mexican themed bar will be located on the Lido Deck near the pool.

Alchemy Bar -  The Alchemy Bar will also be added to the Carnival Magic during dry-dock.  The Alchemy Bar allows cruisers to purchase mixed drinks in a pharmacy themed bar setting. Cruisers are able to tell bartenders to mix ingredients to make a drink a certain way.

Carnival Valor Will Receive Numerous Fun Ship 2.0 Upgrades In Dry-Dock

3/5/2016

In April 2016, Carnival Cruise Line will be sending the Carnival Valor into dry-dock. During this time, the ship will receive numerous upgrades, general upkeep, and some some refreshing. Currently, the Carnival Valor is scheduled to receive the following enhancements during its dry-dock:

Guy's Burger Joint -  This is a popular Fun Ship 2.0 feature that Carnival has been slowly expanding to its ships. Guy's Burger Joint serves free hamburgers and french fries at lunchtime. Prior to getting Guy's Burger Joint, the Carnival Valor had a generic hamburger grill on its Lido Deck.

Blue Iguana Cantina -  The Blue Iguana Cantina is another feature Carnival will be adding to the Carnival Valor's Lido deck.

Alchemy Bar -  The Alchemy Bar will also be added to the Carnival Valor during dry-dock.  The Alchemy Bar allows cruisers to purchase mixed drinks in a pharmacy themed bar setting. Cruisers are able to tell bartenders to mix ingredients to make a drink a certain way.

Camp Ocean - The Carnival Valor will be receiving Carnival's new children's program, Camp Ocean. Camp Ocean is the official replacement to Camp Carnival. Camp Ocean is a youth program that consists of three age groups. Each age group has different activities and is represented by a different sea animal. Ages 2-5 are Penguins, ages 6-8 are Stingrays, and 9-11 are Sharks. Typically, as Carnival implements Camp Ocean the youth program lounges that were previously used by Camp Carnival are upgraded to reflect the this brand new youth program. I have a strong feeling that the same will occur for the Valor.

Skybox Sports Bar -  The Sky Box Sports Bar is a place for people to buy drinks and watch sports. The Carnival Valor will be receiving the Sky Box Sports Bar during its upcoming dry-dock.

Cherry On Top -  The Carnival Valor  will be receiving Cherry On Top, which is essentially a candy shop. This shop sells candy, gifts, and a few other things.

All of the information in this article was listed on GoCCL. Carnival's News department has not made an official release on this dry-dock, but since the list of upgrades was posted by GoCCL, I am sharing the information here. Please keep in mind everything is subject to change!
