Carnival Triumph Is Now Homeported In New Orleans Following Dry-Dock

4/4/2016

Carnival TriumphCarnival Triumph
The Carnival Triumph is currently the newest edition to New Orleans' selection of cruise ships. However, this is not the Triumph's first time sailing from New Orleans. The ship sailed from New Orleans from November 2009 until September 2011. The Carnival Elation, Carnival's previous 4 & 5 day ship from New Orleans, is being replaced by the Carnival Triumph.
The Carnival Triumph arrived back in New Orleans on Monday, April 4, 2016. The ship will primarily sail 4 and 5 day cruises to the Western Caribbean. Following the time the ship left New Orleans to sail from Galveston, in 2011, the ship has recieved two dry-docks. One dry-dock was in 2013 following the infamous engine room fire and the other was between the ship's homeport change from Galveston to New Orleans. New Orleans cruisers can look forward to many of Carnival's Fun Ship 2.0 features that have already been installed on the Carnival Triumph.

Here are a few of the Carnival Triumph's highlights:
  • Guy's Burger Joint
Guy's Burger Joint is a popular Fun Ship 2.0 amenity that Carnival has been slowly adding to its fleet of ships. The Carnival Triumph received Guy's Burger Joint during a 2013 dry-dock. Guy's Burger Joint serves free hamburgers and french fries at lunchtime. For those that were familiar with the Carnival Triumph before this dry-dock enhancement occurred, Guy's Burger Joint replaced the main Lido deck grill. Guy's Burger Joint can be found on the Carnival Triumph's outside Lido area.
  • Blue Iguana Cantina
The Blue Iguana Cantina is another Fun Ship 2.0 amenity that Carnival added to the Carnival Triumph during a 2013 dry-dock. The Blue Iguana Cantina serves burritos and tacos at lunch. Usually, the Blue Iguana Cantina also has some breakfast options too. To compliment tacos and burritos, Carnival's Blue Iguana Cantina has a salsa bar. The salsa bar has a multitude of salsa options available for cruisers. The Blue Iguana Cantina is complimentary! The Blue Iguana Cantina can be found on the outside part of the Lido Deck buffet near Guy's Burger Joint.
  • Red Frog Rum Bar & Blue Iguana Tequila Bar
Both of these bars on the Carnival Triumph are located on the ship's Lido Deck (9). If you are by the Lido Deck mid-ship pool, you will more than likely be able to easily spot these bars. Both bars serve different frozen drinks and beer for cruisers to purchase.
  • Alchemy Bar
The Alchemy Bar allows cruisers to purchase mixed drinks in a pharmacy themed bar setting. Cruisers are able to tell bartenders to mix ingredients to make a drink a certain way. The Alchemy Bar is located in the Carnival Triumph's Promenade walkway (known as World's Way Promenade onboard) near the back. The Alchemy Bar is extremely close to the Big Easy Piano Bar.
  • Camp Ocean
The Carnival Triumph has Carnival's newest youth program, Camp Ocean. Camp Ocean is the official replacement to Camp Carnival. Camp Ocean is a youth program that consists of three age groups. Each age group has different activities and is represented by a different sea animal. Ages 2-5 are Penguins, ages 6-8 are Stingrays, and 9-11 are Sharks. In addition to Camp Ocean, the Carnival Triumph has other Carnival youth programs such as Circle C (12-14 year olds) and Club 02 (15-17 year olds).

There are many other features the Carnival Triumph has, but this would be a never ending post if I were to discuss all.

Welcome back to New Orleans, Carnival Triumph!!!
