For my recent Carnival Breeze cruise I parked the first time in the Port of Galveston's Parking Garage. The Port of Galveston's parking garage is located at 150 25th Street and is right across Harborside Drive from Cruise Terminal 25 (formerly cruise terminal 1). This post will share my experience parking at the Port of Galveston's Parking Garage as well as provide some tips for other cruisers wishing to park at this parking garage.
My Pre-Cruise Experience Booking A Parking Spot
Several weeks before my cruise I started searching and comparing parking lots & garage options near the cruise terminal. Through my research for my particular cruise date, I discovered that the Port of Galveston's parking garage was close to Cruise Terminal 25 and very reasonably priced. The Port of Galveston is constantly running parking discount promotions on their social media pages so I was able to use a coupon code to get an additional percentage off.
I found the Port of Galveston's parking booking to be easy online. The form to book parking was easy to use and paying online was made simple. Overall the process to book parking, from opening the booking engine to receiving a confirmation email, took between 5-10 minutes.
TIP: The Port of Galveston offers a loyalty program for their parking lots (garage and surface lots). Cruisers earn points for each dollar spent and these points can be used for savings on a future visit.

Checking In To The Garage & Embarkation Day Parking Experience
Checking in to the Port of Galveston's garage was an easy experience on my cruise day. Before leaving for the cruise, I printed my parking confirmation ticket which included details of my reservation and a barcode. The entrance to the parking garage was located on 25th street. When I pulled into the entrance I was greeted by an employee who asked to see my confirmation ticket. He checked my name against a list on his clipboard and then gave us a parking ticket to keep in the dash of the car. We were told we could park in any open spots.
Finding a parking spot was very easy. We parked on the second level of the garage and had a good view of the Carnival Breeze was from the garage. The garage had signage inside to help facilitate traffic going up and then exiting. I got my luggage out of the car and wheeled it down the ramp to exit the garage. There is an elevator available in the garage, but I was on the second floor so it was not much effort for me to wheel my suitcase down. If you do this, just make sure to be careful and watch out for cars!
There is not shuttle service available in the Port of Galveston's parking garage. To get to cruise terminal 25 or 28 (formerly cruise terminals #1 and #2) you will need to plan to cross Harborside Drive. From the parking garage you will have to first cross 25th street as the crosswalk for Harborside on the side of the road as the garage was blocked. There are traffic signals available to help guests cross 25th street as well as cross Harborside Drive to get to the cruise terminals.
Leaving The Garage After The Cruise
Crossing Harborside Drive after the cruise ended to get back to the parking garage was easy and only took a few minutes. When we got back to the car, we loaded our suitcases and then followed the signs in the garage that pointed to the exit. At the exit, an employee took our ticket & opened the parking gate. This took minimal time!
Overall: I had a good experience and definitely want to park at the Port of Galveston's garage again in the future!

Tips & Other Misc. Information
- Although this is a parking garage, only levels 1 & 2 are covered. The third level is not covered.
- Parking spots are available after guests from the previous cruise have gotten back in their car. If you arrive too early you may have to wait for a spot to become free. The Port of Galveston's website states 9:30am is the time guests can start checking in for parking. Spots are filled on a first come first serve basis!
- If you are thinking of booking parking with the Port of Galveston definitely look for promotion codes on their Facebook and Twitter pages. Additionally, booking online can get you loyalty points.
- Use caution and watch for cars both in the garage and when crossing the streets! When crossing 25th Street and Harborside Drive only go when the crosswalk signal is activated or when given instruction by a security guard/police officer. Be very careful at all times!
