Port of Galveston Renovated Cruise Terminal 25: A Review of The Refreshed Terminal

6/3/2024

The Port of Galveston did a major construction project on Cruise Terminal 25 prior to the arrival the Carnival Jubilee in 2023. This renovation improved the cruise terminal experience greatly and everything inside felt fresh & modern. In this post I take a look at some of my observations while embarking on a recent Carnival Dream cruise from Cruise Terminal 25.

1. Check-In Flow Improved
Galveston's redesigned Cruise Terminal 25 made the check-in process more efficient. From the minute of stepping in the building cruisers were sent in lines based on their boarding status (i.e priority boarding, Faster to the Fun, general embarkation, etc.). Multiple stations for check-in and security helped get cruisers through the check-in process quickly.
2. Easier Boarding Process
The process of actually getting on the ship was easier. The redesigned cruise terminal 25 has the ability to have two gangways going at once for large ships like the Carnival Jubilee. Other ships like Carnival Dream and Carnival Breeze may only use one gangway at embarkation, but the flow of getting people from the seating area to the gangway is extremely efficient for any ships using this cruise terminal.
3. Nicer Seating
The new seating in redesigned Cruise Terminal #25 were comfortable. This was a huge upgrade compared to the old furniture that had been in the cruise terminal pre-renovation.
4. Clean Modern Feel
The color scheme of the updated cruise terminal was nice. The contrast of blue and some green gave the cruise terminal's waiting area upstairs a relaxing look & feel.
5. Plugs For Devices
The number of electrical outlet plugs in the cruise terminal increased. This is great for doing a quick phone charge while waiting to board (just don't forget your phone in the cruise terminal and it's probably best to never leave unattended).
6. Outside Traffic Flow Improved
The Port of Galveston made changes outside the cruise terminal. Essentially, traffic flow was reversed and this improved the experience. From the Port of Galveston's Police to the stevedores working outside the terminal everyone worked to make traffic flow quickly and make sure people could safely cross the road as needed.
The renovated cruise terminal 25 was nice and I cannot wait to sail from the cruise terminal again!
