Carnival Freedom The Carnival Freedom finished its time in dry-dock in Cadiz, Spain for a dry-dock. This drydock brought needed repairs to the Carnival Freedom's funnel after a May 2022 fire as well as some other enhancements to the ship. The October 2023 dry-dock lasted from 10/4 through 10/22. This post will share some of the known details regarding the work that took place during the Carnival Freedom's 2023 dry-dock.
Funnel Repair
The Carnival Freedom's funnel has been a virtual smokestack instead of the traditional Carnival "whale tail" after the wings of the funnel were removed after the May 2022 fire. John Heald, Carnival's brand ambassador, wrote on Facebook that the Carnival Freedom's smokestack was replaced during this dry-dock.

New Carnival Livery
Since 2021, Carnival has been painting ships with new red, white, & blue hull livery. The Carnival Freedom received this new livery during the 2023 drydock.

Heroes Tribute Bar
The Skybox Sports Bar on the Promenade Deck (Deck 5) was converted to the Heroes Tribute Bar. The bar still has screens that will broadcast various sports games and tournaments.

Casino Expansion
Carnival expanded the Carnival Freedom's casino during this dry-dock. The casino expansion removed some seats along the Promenade walkway.
Please note: I originally had the casino bar was removed based on what Carnival had on GoCCL. The casino bar was not removed and based on the deck plan is still onboard.

Coffee Bar Converted To Java Blue Cafe
The Carnival Freedom's coffee bar on the Promenade Deck was converted to the Java Blue Cafe.

Routine Hotel Maintenance & Cosmetic Enhancements
Every time a Carnival ship is sent to dry-dock there is work both in the public areas of the ship and behind the scenes in the crew areas. Carnival announced carpet and tile work was done in lounges and public areas of the Carnival Freedom.

After the Carnival Freedom completes dry-dock the ship is scheduled to sail a 14 night transatlantic cruise to reposition back to Port Canaveral, Florida.
