In September 2015, Carnival Cruise Line announced it would be once again sending a cruise ship to sail from Mobile, Alabama. The original announcement said the Carnival Fantasy would sail from Mobile between November 2016 until November 2017.
Since the original announcement, time has passed and Carnival has opened more bookings for the Carnival Fantasy from Mobile. Cruisers can now book Carnival Fantasy cruises for November 2017 until April 2018, in addition to the already available November 2016 - November 2017 sailings. These cruises are mostly 4 & 5 day sailings. The ship will offer 4 day cruises to Cozumel and 5 day cruises to either Cozumel & Progreso or Cozumel & Costa Maya.
Earlier this year, the Carnival Fantasy was upgraded and renovated to get ready for its new Mobile homeport. Carnival's Guy's Burger Joint, Blue Iguana Cantina, Red Frog Rum Bar, and Blue Iguana Tequila Bar were added to the ship during its most recent dry-dock. In addition, the Carnival Fantasy was upgraded several years ago to have Carnival's WaterWorks, a tropical themed lido pool, and the Serenity Adults Only Retreat. While the Carnival Fantasy is an older ship, it has many features and attractions that can be found throughout the Carnival fleet.
