Carnival Ecstasy Dry-Dock History

10/14/2022

Carnival Ecstasy
The Carnival Ecstasy entered service in 1991 as the M/S Ecstasy. Throughout the Carnival Ecstasy's history there have been many dry-dock upgrades and changes. Since the ship is now out of service and will be scrapped in Turkey, I have decided to document all of the dry-docks that I have information on for the Carnival Ecstasy. The earliest information I have is 1998, but I would imagine there was at least 1 dry-dock between 1991 and 1998. Below is the Carnival Ecstasy's dry-docks throughout the ship's 31 years of service for Carnival Cruise Line:

1998 Dry-Docks
Carnival does not have information published online regarding the specific work performed during the Carnival Ecstasy's 1998 dry-docks. However, according to GoCCL the Carnival Ecstasy was in dry-dock twice in 1998. The first dry-dock was routine and scheduled from 1/9/98 - 1/23/98. Later in 1998 the Carnival Ecstasy suffered a fire in the aft that left extensive damage. The ship was out of service for repairs from 7/24/98 - 9/18/98.
2000 Dry-Dock
The Carnival Ecstasy went to dry-dock from 1/17/2000 - 1/31/2000. During this dry-dock the Carnival Ecstasy received the Rolls Royce Cafe on the Promenade Deck that served coffee and sweets. A Formalities Shop was also added to the ship's Promenade Deck.
2006 Dry-Dock
The Carnival Ecstasy went to dry-dock from 3/4/2006 - 4/7/2006. This dry-dock was a first part of the Evolutions of Fun upgrades that Carnival was performing on several of the Fantasy Class ships.  Additionally, this dry-dock was after the Carnival Ecstasy was chartered by FEMA for use in relief efforts during the Hurricane Katrina recovery in New Orleans. During this dry-dock the Carnival Ecstasy received the following features, enhancements, and changes:
  • Mini Golf Course (9 holes) added to the Sun Deck
  • Camp Carnival relocated to the Verandah Deck
  • Reconfiguration of the Starlight Lounge (aft-lounge)
  • Art Gallery added on the Empress Deck
  • Conference Room Added On The Promenade Deck (this area used to be part of the Stripes Disco)
  • Gift Shop Renovations
  • Updates To The Panorama Bar & Grill (Lido Buffet)
  • Refurbishment of All Staterooms and Suites
2009 Dry-Dock
The Carnival Ecstasy went to dry-dock from 9/19/2009 - 10/16/2009. This dry-dock was a part of the Evolutions of Fun upgrades that Carnival was performing on several of the Fantasy Class ships. During this dry-dock the Carnival Ecstasy received the following features, enhancements, and changes:
  • WaterWorks added on the Verandah Deck
