Carnival Cruise Line has been known for having pizza service available for most of the day on their ships. Although pizza is still available complimentary at the pizzeria, Carnival has rolled out a feature on the Hub App that allows cruisers to have pizza delivered practically anywhere on the ship for a fee. Typically, the pizza is $6.00. This feature is not yet available on all ships (at the time of writing). On my recent Carnival Vista cruise, I decided to see what the Carnival Hub app area for ordering pizza looked like and what the functionality of this feature was. I did not order pizza, but went through the order process up until the point of having to confirm payment. This post is about my observations of how this part of the app works and areas where you cannot get pizza delivered.
Note Regarding Service (August 2022): Due to crew shortages the Pizzeria may not be open 24 hours a day. Additionally, the ability to order delivery may be unavailable due to a ship's staffing. Once you are on your cruise if food delivery services are available for your voyage you should see the option within the Carnival Hub App.
Ready To Order Pizza? While in the Carnival Hub app look for the pizza delivery feature if pizza delivery is implemented on your Carnival ship. You should be able to see a delivery feature listed under the dining section of the app or delivery may be advertised somewhere else on the app. When I was using the Carnival Hub App to navigate I saw the ability to order pizza on multiple screens. If you click that you want pizza delivered you will be brought to a screen similar to what I have posted a screenshot of on the left. This screen is from my Carnival Vista cruise. You can choose to have pizza delivered to your stateroom or to almost any public area of the ship. The app will also give an estimated delivery time. For example, in my screenshot on the left, you can see at the bottom it says delivery will take less than 30 minutes. Orders are actually fulfilled at the pizzeria, but a delivery crew member will then pick it up at the pizzeria and take it to your specified delivery location. |
If You Select "Ship Area" You Will Then Have A List Of Decks To Choose From If you want your pizza delivered to a public area on the ship you will have to select which deck you are on. The list of decks that populates will only include decks that have public areas that delivery is supported on. Decks that only include staterooms will not come up in this list because there are no public areas on those decks. |
Once you select which deck you are on from the list of decks with public areas (that support delivery) you will have a deck plan of that particular deck come up. The instructions on the app specify for you to pick on the area closest to you. When you tap on that particular area of the deck plan a little pin looking icon will appear on the spot you touched. Once you have your location correct you can press the continue button at the bottom of the app. Where You Cannot Have Pizza Delivered: If you touch/select an area that does not support delivery a gray box will appear at the top of the app that says "Delivery Not Supported In This Area". You will not be able to continue with your purchase if your delivery location is not proper. Here are some areas I discovered cannot have pizza delivered while I was dragging the little location pin around: - Elevators - Stairwells - Lifeboats - Stateroom Hallways - Restrooms - Someone Else's Stateroom - The Ship's Galley - All Crew Only Areas I am sure there may be some other areas, but these were the ones I discovered during my Carnival Vista cruise. It should be common sense that pizza cannot be delivered to every single public area, but I was curious about the app's capability to restrict delivery so that is why I tried to have pizza delivered to these certain areas. |
Selecting Your Pizza Once you have made a valid selection for delivery location you will be prompted to select what type of pizza you want. The pizza options are the same ones that are offered at the pizzeria counter complimentary. At the time of writing this, pizza costs $6.00 each. You will get a whole pizza in a box when you order through the app's delivery service. From the app you can specify the quantity of pizzas you would like. I do not know if there is a maximum quantity. Before you continue make sure your selections are what you actually want because it would be terrible to accidentally order the wrong thing or wrong quantity. Some Ships Now Support Ordering Drinks Via This Part of The App: At the time of writing, some Carnival ships allow cruisers to purchase a selection of soft drinks and beer with their pizza order. The normal bar prices and policies should apply. This roll-out is only being tested on a few ships that have already had the Carnival Hub App's pizza delivery feature. |
Once You Have Picked What You Want:
After you have made your pizza selections, you will be prompted to continue at the bottom of the app's screen. The next screen you see will ask you to confirm your order. This is where I stopped playing with the app because I didn't want to actually purchase pizza. However, if you do continue you will be taken to a screen that confirms your order, gives a delivery time, and shows you when your pizza is in transit for delivery.
