Carnival Cruise Camp Ocean Night Owls Program: Tips, Info, & How The Program Works

3/4/2023

Carnival Cruise Camp Ocean
Carnival Cruise Line's Camp Ocean youth program has a late night amenity called Night Owls that parents can pay extra for. This post will take a look at the Camp Ocean Night Owls program experience, cost for children, hours of the program, and random questions that guests frequently have about the Night Owls program.
Night Owls is a part of the Camp Ocean program, but is a late night experience that does cost extra.

What age is the Night Owls program for?

Carnival's website states the Night Owls program is for children 6 months to 11 years.
Night Owls Cost & Payment
Participation in Carnival's Night Owls program is charged per child and on an hourly basis. Further, a service charge (gratuity) is also applied. At the time of writing, Night Owls is $7.50 per hour + 18% service charge per child. Carnival does not offer any discounts if there are multiple children being enrolled in the Night Owls program. According to Carnival, the amount is charged on the guest's Sail & Sign card at the time of pick-up and further cash is not accepted onboard as a form of payment for this service.
The typical Night Owls hours are from 10pm until 1am. However, Carnival will charge double for the time period beyond 1am and ban guests from future participation in Night Owls if the child is left past 1am. Make sure you to pick up your child or children timely!
What experience will the children in Night Owls have?
According to Carnival, the Night Owls program takes place in the Camp Ocean facility onboard. Hours are typically from 10pm until 1am. The goal is to have a slumber party atmosphere. Example activities that Carnival noted are movies, crafts, toys, video games, and snacks. Carnival notes that children can sleep on pillows & blankets and that cots are not available. However, for infants Carnival does mention that Pack N' Plays may be available for usage. Additionally, Carnival notes cribs may be available for children under 2.
Is Night Owls program available after the Covid-19 cruise restart?
The Night Owls program was originally not available when Carnival restarted cruising, but should be back and available onboard for cruises departing from the US.
What is Carnival's sign-in and out policy for children during Night Owls?
Carnival specifies that children 6 months to 11 years old must be signed out to an authorized person over 18 years old. The notes on Carnival's website mention that the adult must show their Sail & Sign card and there are no exceptions to the rule.
Does Carnival offer in-stateroom babysitting for kids?

Carnival does not offer any in-stateroom babysitting services. The late evening/night services are offered in the Camp Ocean facility.
Do the participants in Night Owls have to be potty trained?
According to Carnival, children do not have to potty trained to participate in Night Owls. However, parents & guardians should provide the Carnival youth staff with the diapers & toiletries to be used for their child.
Does Carnival offer the Owl Jams party in addition to Night Owls?
Carnival will sometimes offer an Owl Jams party during the Night Owls time that is additional from the Night Owls program. When Owl Jams is offered this is an extra party that is for ages 2-11 or ages 6-11 (exact age for the party may vary). Carnival does charge $17 per child per party plus an 18% service charge. Check with the Camp Ocean & Night Owls staff on your Carnival Cruise ship to see if this is being offered during your cruise and to sign-up your child if interested.
