Carnival Cruise Line's Main Dining Room dinner experience is a highlight for many guests while onboard a cruise. Most items served in the Main Dining Room are complimentary and you can generally have multiple appetizers or desserts if you would like. After two entrees Carnival will charge you $5 per additional entrees (this is based on per person). Any items that are an additional charge will have a price or $ sign on the menu and the charge will be made to your Sail & Sign card onboard spending account. 
             Prior to cruising I enjoy researching Carnival's dining menus and looking at others' food pictures. This post will share 5 night cruise menus from my Carnival Breeze 5 night cruise that took place in May 2023. I have also included food pictures of the dish from my recent Carnival Breeze cruises. 

General Reminder Regarding Menus: Please note, menus are subject to change at any time as supplies and staffing can dictate which menu items are able to served. Additionally, please note that the exact presentation & ingredients that come with a certain dish are subject to change. If you have allergies or cannot eat a certain ingredient please consult with Carnival to determine if a dish is suitable for your consumption (it's always better to be safe than sorry so please be careful to avoid a serious allergic reaction or other issue). ​

        The Carnival Pride finished drydock and has now started the 2023 Europe cruise season. The first sailing on the Carnival Pride after dry-dock began on May 28, 2023 and had special guests visit the ship before it set sail which included Christine Duffy, Carnival Cruise Line's President, and Emeril Lagasse, Carnival's Chief Culinary Officer.

Carnival Pride's 2023 Drydock
              The 2023 drydock on the Carnival Pride included several modifications and enhancements onboard. The following items were completed during this drydock:
1. New Carnival Livery - this is the red, white, & blue hull paint livery
2. upgrades to enhance accessibility for guests with disabilities (Carnival's press release did not give specifics). 
3. Heroes Tribute Bar replaced the SkyBox Sports Bar
4. New staterooms and a dedicated space for the Chef's Table replaced the Deck 1 nightclub level
5. Renovation to the casino to expand the space & removal of the casino bar 
6. SPA Carnival was rebranded as the Cloud 9 SPA
7. The steakhouse onboard was rebranded to the Fahrenheit 555 Steakhouse 
8. The Carnival Adventures shop replaced the card room onboard
9. A Dreams Studio was added on Deck 2 
10. General cosmetic enhancements & maintenance were performed onboard the ship

Carnival Pride 2023 Europe Season
                 The Carnival Pride's 2023 Europe Season runs now through October 28, 2023. At the conclusion of the Europe season the ship will sail a 15 night transatlantic cruise back to Tampa, Florida.

The Carnival Pride is a Spirit Class ship and entered service in 2002.

       Cruisers sailing from the Port of Galveston are now able to be picked up or dropped off using an Uber ride share. The Galveston Wharves and Uber recently signed an agreement earlier in May 2023 that will allow Uber uses to be dropped off & picked up at all three cruise terminals. 
       According to the Port of Galveston's press release, cruisers that are going to be using Uber should look for signage that points to the dedicated drop-off and pick-up areas. 

Which cruise lines will guests be able to use Uber to get to?
         The Port of Galveston's press release states that all three cruise terminals will have a designated Uber drop-off/pick-up spot. This means guests sailing on Carnival Cruise, Royal Caribbean, Disney Cruise Line, Princess Cruise Line, and Norwegian Cruise Line will have the option for Uber regardless of which cruise terminal their cruise is departing from. 

Tip: For Pick-Up Make Sure You Specify The Cruise Terminal You Are At 
                 Make sure your request for a pick-up after the cruise is over is from the cruise terminal you are actually at. Since there are 3 cruise terminals (Cruise Terminal 25, Cruise Terminal 28, and Cruise Terminal 10) you should make sure when you put in for your ride that you are going to get your driver to come to the correct cruise terminal. 
                      The same thing applies to getting dropped off, but you should be able to communicate with your driver to make sure you get dropped off at the correct cruise terminal. ​

Are there any other ride sharing options or transportation options from the Galveston cruise terminals?
​                     There are many different options cruisers can use for transportation to or from the Galveston cruise terminals. The Port of Galveston also has an agreement with Lyft for ride sharing. According to the Port of Galveston's press release there are private shuttles, limousines, taxi companies, and many other options for passengers to use. 

When does the Uber agreement with the Port of Galveston begin? 
                       The press release from the Port of Galveston does not have a specific start date referenced. It is my understanding based on looking at the Galveston Wharves Board Minutes from March 2023 that the agreement has now started.

       The Carnival Venezia will have a Guy's Burger Joint onboard that serves some traditional burger options, but also has some Italian themed options to fit Carnival's Fun Italian Style concept. This post will look at the Guy's Burger Joint menu on the Carnival Venezia as well as share some general Guy's Burger Joint tips that are applicable to Carnival Venezia cruisers. 

Carnival Venezia Guys Burger Joint Menu:
​The Carnival Venezia's Guy's Burger Joint menu will have 5 options. The options that are standard across Carnival ships are as follows: 

• Plain Jane - The Plain Jane is served with or without super melty cheese. You get to choose when you order. Carnival states this is an 80/20 ground chuck on a grilled roll. The vegetables & toppings do not come in this option other than you have the choice of cheese. 
• Straight Up - This burger has more in it than the Plain Jane. If you do not want any of the ingredients you can ask for it to be withheld, but you are better off getting the Plain Jane and adding toppings yourself at the toppings bar. Carnival advertises the Straight Up burger comes with super melty cheese, lettuce, onion, pickle, tomato, and donkey sauce. Donkey sauce is a form of mayo sauce. 
• The Ringer -  The Ringer is the "Straight Up" burger but with some additional items. The Ringer comes with super melty cheese, Guy's Bourbon & Brown Sugar BBQ sauce, and a crispy onion ring. 

The Carnival Venezia will have some different options on the Guy's Burger Joint menu onboard. These options are as follows: 

• Pepperoni Pizza Burger - The pepperoni pizza burger will have fried mozzarella, pepperoni marinara, crispy stripes, super melty cheese, provolone, aged parmesan,  and donkey sauce. Donkey sauce is a form of mayo sauce. 
• Super Melty Mootz - This burger is based on the Straight Up burger, but also includes super melty cheese, fresh mozzarella, diced tomato, balsamic, fried basil, and donkey sauce. 

Will the Carnival Venezia have the Pig Patty & Chilius Maximus options?
                     ​These two options are not on the Carnival Venezia's Guy's Burger Joint menu. Instead Carnival is offering the Pepperoni Pizza Burger and Super Melty Mootz.

Will the Carnival Venezia's Guys Burger Joint serve fries?
​                  Yes, the Carnival Venezia's Guys Burger Joint will serve fries. Carnival's menu states the burger joint will serve fries that are seasoned with Guy's signature seasoning.

The Carnival Venezia's Guy's Burger Joint will be located on the Deck 10 close to the Lido pool. The Java Blue Cafe is located outside on the same side of the ship (just across the pool). 

Toppings Bar At Carnival Venezia's Guys Burger Joint?
                   Yes, the Carnival Venezia is expected to have a toppings bar at Guy's Burger Joint. I will update I hear or see otherwise, but the deck plan for the Carnival Venezia shows a counter outside of Guy's Burger Joint for a toppings bar.

         Looking for where your muster station is located before getting on your Carnival Cruise ship? To find your muster station pre-cruise all you need to do is look on your boarding pass (after online check-in is completed) to find the letter or letter & number combination that you are assigned for your muster station. 
                Once you are onboard your Carnival Cruise ship you will need to complete the self-mustering process timely. This is mandatory for all guests. Your muster station onboard will be printed on your Sail & Sign Card, boarding pass, Carnival Hub App, and back of your stateroom door. The list of locations below is subject to change so make sure once onboard you double check to make sure you go to the correct muster station location.         Carnival Cruise Line has designated areas for smoking onboard and these designated areas will vary by ship. Where can I smoke on a Carnival Cruise ship? Can I smoke in the Carnival Cruise casino? These are both common questions that guests ask and are ones that I hope to address through this post. Please note, the smoking areas are subject to change at any time. Further, there is no smoking onboard allowed when the ship is refueling. This means areas that normally allow smoking will not allow smoking during the refueling process. Smoking is never allowed in staterooms or on balconies. Further, Carnival does not allow smoking at the casino bar regardless of whether smoking is allowed while playing machines. Below are the designated smoking areas inside & outside for each Carnival ship:

• Outside:  Designated areas on Deck 3 Port Side FWD & Deck 10 Starboard Side Mid-Ship ​

• Outside:  Designated areas on Deck 3 Starboard Side FWD, Deck 9 Starboard Side FWD, & Deck 10 Starboard Side FWD​
• Cigarette smoking which includes electronic cigarettes & personal vaporizers is permitted in the interior and exterior areas. However, cigar and tobacco pipes is only permitted in the outside smoking area. 
• You are not allowed to smoke in your stateroom or on a stateroom balcony. 
  

Carnival Luminosa Smoking Areas
Carnival has the smoking area policies for the Carnival Luminosa divided into US cruises and Australia cruises. 
Australia Carnival Luminosa Cruises:

• Interior: There is no smoking permitted in any interior areas of the Carnival Luminosa. 
• Outside:  Designated areas on Deck 10 AFT Port Side. 
• Guests are allowed to use cigarettes, including electronic cigarettes and personal vaporizers, cigars, and tobacco pipes in the outside smoking area. 
• You are not allowed to smoke in your stateroom or on a stateroom balcony. 
  

US Departing Carnival Luminosa Cruises:

• ​Interior: The Luminosa Casino allows smoking when you are playing at a machine or table during the casino's open hours (smoking is not allowed at any tables or games when the casino is closed). Smoking is not allowed at the casino bar.
• Outside: Designated areas on Deck 10 AFT Port Side. ​
• Cigarette smoking which includes electronic cigarettes & personal vaporizers is permitted in the interior and exterior areas. However, cigar and tobacco pipes is only permitted in the outside smoking area. 
• You are not allowed to smoke in your stateroom or on a stateroom balcony. ​
  

Carnival Conquest Smoking Areas

• Interior:  Tahiti Casino on the Promenade Deck (Deck 5) - In order to be allowed to smoke in the casino you must be playing at a designated machine or table during the casino's open hours (smoking is not allowed at any tables or games when the casino is closed). Smoking is not allowed at the casino bar.
• Outside:  Deck 3 Starboard Side and Deck 10 Starboard Side (Mid-Ship & Aft) In Designated Areas​
• Cigarette smoking which includes electronic cigarettes & personal vaporizers is permitted in the interior and exterior areas. However, cigar and tobacco pipes is only permitted in the outside smoking area. ​
• You are not allowed to smoke in your stateroom or on a stateroom balcony. 

Carnival Glory Smoking Areas

• Interior:  Camel Club Casino on the Promenade Deck (Deck 5) - In order to be allowed to smoke in the casino you must be playing at a designated machine or table during the casino's open hours (smoking is not allowed at any tables or games when the casino is closed). Smoking is not allowed at the casino bar.
• Outside:  Deck 3 Starboard Side and Deck 10 Starboard Side In Designated Areas​

Mardi Gras Smoking Areas

• Interior:  Mardi Gras Casino - In order to be allowed to smoke in the casino you must be playing at a designated machine or table during the casino's open hours (smoking is not allowed at any tables or games when the casino is closed). Smoking is not allowed at the casino bar.
• Outside:  1) Designated Outdoor Bar Area of Bar Della Rosa On Deck 8 Starboard Mid-Ship  2) Designated Area of Deck 17 Starboard Aft ​

• Outside: 1) Designated Outdoor Bar Area Of Bar 820 On Deck 8 Starboard Mid-Ship 2) Designated Area Of Deck 17 Starboard Aft 
• Cigarette smoking which includes electronic cigarettes & personal vaporizers is permitted in the interior and exterior areas. However, cigar and tobacco pipes is only permitted in the outside smoking area on Deck 17 Starboard AFT.

Carnival Jubilee Smoking Areas

• Carnival has not yet released the designated smoking areas for the Carnival Jubilee. 

    Carnival Corporation offers an onboard credit benefit to shareholders who own 100 shares minimum of Carnival Corporation or Carnival Plc. This post will give information on how the Carnival Corporation shareholder onboard credit benefit works. .

Carnival Corporation Brands
             The Carnival Corporation brands include Carnival Cruise Line, Princess Cruises, Holland America Line, Seabourn, Cunard, Costa Cruises, Aida Cruises, and P&O Cruises. If you own 100 shares of the Carnival Corporation or Carnival plc stock, you can apply for the onboard credit benefit for any of the cruises that you are taking on these lines. 

How Much Onboard Credit Do You Get
               The onboard credit amount is determined by the length of the cruise and further depends on if the cruise is on a North American brand, Continental Europe brand, United Kingdom brand, or Australia brand. For North American cruises the onboard credit for 14+ day cruises is $250, 7-13 days is $100, and 6 days or less is $50. Please note Carnival Corporation's guidelines state that guests cruising at a reduced rate or complimentary basis are excluded from this onboard credit offer. Further, only one onboard credit per shareholder occupied stateroom. 

Claiming The Onboard Credit
               Carnival Corporation has posted instructions for claiming the onboard credit on their website. Each cruise line has specific instructions to claim the onboard credit and prove ownership of the 100+ shares. Per Carnival Corporation you can provide the legal name, reservation/booking number, ship and sailing date, and proof of ownership by email, fax, or mail. Proof of ownership per Carnival consists of examples such as "photocopy of shareholder proxy card, a dividend tax voucher or a current brokerage or nominee statement with your current mailing address and brokerage account number blacked out". The claim must be submitted 4 weeks prior to your sail date. Carnival reminds guests that email is a inherently an insecure method of communication.
                   The current shareholder benefit program is for sailings through July 31, 2024. Reservations for this benefit must be made by February 28, 2024 according to Carnival Corporation's program. No information is available at the time of writing if the program will be extended. 

What Can You Spend The Onboard Credit On
                  You should be able to use the onboard credit on pretty much anything on sale on the ship that is charged to your onboard expense account. Examples of this include bar service, gift shop merchandise, specialty dining, and more.  The credit is considered non-refundable which means you cannot cash it out. Carnival Corporation's program for the shareholder benefit states that it cannot be used for casino credits/charges or gratuities charged to your onboard account. ​If you are are onboard and have questions about which purchases will count towards the onboard credit usage, I recommend asking at Guest Services.

Is Carnival stock a good buy? Will the Carnival stock price rise? 
                      I am not qualified to answer each of these questions. This is a cruise blog and not a financial blog!  If you are thinking about buying Carnival Corporation stock I recommend speaking with a financial advisor or researching financial information released by Carnival Corporation. Examples of financial information Carnival Corporation has released include SEC filings such as the Annual Report or 10-Q documents. Ultimately, buying any stock has some level of risk as prices can rise or decrease and you need to do your research to determine if buying any stock is a good fit for your financial portfolio.
