Morning of Cozumel Day:
I woke up early and went around the ship taking some pictures & video. The weather outside was looking nice and clear. The Carnival Dream was sailing towards Cozumel and I was able to see land in the far distance.

Breakfast in The Gathering:
Since today was a port of call day The Gathering's scheduled breakfast time was a little earlier. Bacon was served on this morning of the cruise, but french toast was not available.
The continental breakfast buffet line was open from 6:00am until 10:30am. The Blue Iguana Cantina was open from 7:00am - 10:00am and main breakfast buffet lines were open from 7:00am - 10:30am. The late risers buffet line was open from 10:30am until 12:00pm. For guests that did not want to eat in the buffet, the Scarlet Dining Room was open for Breakfast Open Seating from 7:30am until 9:00am.

Arrival In Cozumel:
The Carnival Dream was scheduled to arrive in Cozumel at 9:00am. After breakfast we walked to the front of Deck 9 to look out outside. The Carnival Jubilee was already docked at Puerta Maya and at the International Pier I was able to see the Mariner of the Seas & Independence of the Seas.

Since the Carnival Jubilee was already docked before us, guests onboard were walking on the pier. The size of this ship still amazes me.
Getting Off The Ship:
Even though we docked earlier than 9am, guests were not able to get off right away. The ship had to receive clearance from the local authorities and the gangways had to be fully setup to connect Deck 0 to the pier. When the ship was cleared to all guests to go ashore an announcement was made to say that two gangways were open on Deck 0 - one at the front and one mid-ship. We waited about 30-40 minutes after the announcement was made to go ashore to allow the crowds to clear a little bit. When we decided to go ashore we used the front gangway on Deck 0. Our Sail & Sign cards were scanned by security and then we were on the pier. Getting off was quick and easy!

The Puerta Maya complex is where Carnival ships typically dock in Cozumel. There are places to eat, bars, and many shops around the area. Close to the ship is a mini "beach" area that has chairs to sit, but this beach area does not have an area for guests to play in the water. I walked over to look out from the beach area and I was able to get some nice pictures of the Carnival Jubilee & Carnival Dream. Since many guests were getting off both ships the shops & areas around the complex were a little crowded.
Guests taking shore excursions should pay attention to the meeting location on their excursion. Many locals were holding signs shortly after guests exiting the pier with signage that announced what shore excursion was meeting in which place.

We exited Puerta Maya and walked several blocks to the International Cruise Terminal which is where the Royal Caribbean ships were docked. There is a great place to look out by Margaritaville so I wanted to get some pictures from over here.
The International Cruise Terminal area had many shops, restaurants, and bars too and this area was crowded with Royal Caribbean guests getting off their ships. An ambulance was on the pier at one of the Royal Caribbean ships. I hope whoever needed the medical care was okay.
After looking out at the ships we left the International Cruise Terminal and went to 7-Eleven to buy a drink. One of our cruise traditions is to then walk over to the Royal Village Shopping Center area and sit on a bench or at a table. It was a very hot day and we were able to find a nice shady spot.
After leaving the Royal Village Shopping Center, we walked by several different areas with shops. One of the areas had a pyramid with Cozumel letters and was a bit crowded with guests taking pictures. There are many shops outside the Puerta Maya area. The sidewalk is not even in all spots so if you do venture out of the Puerta Maya Complex I recommend always making sure to watch your step and be mindful of any areas where sidewalk may not be even.
Our next stop was to return to the Puerta Maya cruise complex. For those who have read my prior reviews, you may remember that I like buying rum cakes at the Mayan Fiesta Rum Cake Company. They have a location at Puerta Maya and there are usually free samples inside. We bought a 6 pack of rum cakes and were able to select the flavors we wanted.
After enjoying a morning in Cozumel, it was getting close to time for lunch so we started heading back to the Carnival Dream. At the entrance of the pier a security guard checked our Sail & Sign cards. When we got to the ship we had to empty our pockets and place belongings in a bin for security screening. Going through the security screening took a few minutes, but thankfully the line to get back onboard was short.
