In my previous part of Day 3's review, I was walking around Puerta Maya Pier prior to getting back on the ship. Before getting back on the ship I wanted to walk along the shoreline to get some more ship pictures and buy rum cakes. Here are some pictures I took walking along the shoreline at Puerta Maya:
I have been looking forward to buying rum cakes in Cozumel. I stopped in the Mayan Fiesta Rum Cake Company's Puerta Maya location to buy some rum cakes. Inside the Mayan Fiesta Rum Cake Co. there were samples being served to us of the Mexican Vanilla Rum Cake and Pina Colada rum cake. The store employee asked us to sanitize our hands and then he served the sample to us to prevent any contamination. I liked both of the samples. I ended up buying several rum-cakes and bought enough to where the store employee threw in a mini-freebie rum-cake as a thank you.
Right before re-entering the pier, is the Three Amigos restaurant/bar that many guests will hang out at in Cozumel. Last time I was in Cozumel, I got a great picture of the ship and Three Amigos Cozumel sign that made for a great wall decoration. I tried to re-create the picture, but it did not turn out as good as last time.
Walking Back To The Ship - Entering The Pier:
In order to walk back onto the pier, we had to go through a security checkpoint. We had to show our Sail & Sign card to the security guard. The security guard was checking Sail & Sign cards for ship names and sailing dates. There was no wait at this security checkpoint. Once this was done we were able to walk onto the pier. We had to walk through the long shop on the pier before being able to get back to the ship. The shop was much easier to navigate this time because it was less crowded. The employees of the shop were trying hard to make sales, but I did not stop to look at anything. |
After walking through the shopping area on the pier, I was now outside again. I stopped to take a few pictures of the Carnival Breeze from the pier as well as took a few pictures while walking down the pier. Here are my pictures from the pier:
Getting Back On The Carnival Breeze:
After walking up the Carnival Breeze's gangway we had our Sail & Sign cards scanned. This was done by a security guard with a handheld tablet. As each person's card was scanned their picture appeared on the screen for security to verify the identity of the cruiser. After getting our Sail & Sign card scanned we had to go through the metal detector & bag screening. All electronic items had to be emptied from our pockets and placed in a bin to go through a separate scanning. Bags, purses, and backpacks also had to be scanned separately. The security checkpoint did not take long! After proceeding through this checkpoint we were free to leave Deck 0. I headed back up to my stateroom on Deck 1 to drop off the rum cakes, put passports away, and wash my hands prior to heading up to the Lido Marketplace. I was sun-burned and hungry, but had a good time in Cozumel. |
Getting Lunch From Guy's Burger Joint:
Today for lunch I was hungry for a hamburger and decided to get in line at Guy's Burger Joint. The Carnival Breeze's Guy's Burger Joint line is located outside near the main Lido pool. There are several burger options to pick from at Guy's Burger Joint: Plain Jane, Straight Up, The Ringer, Chilius Maximus, & Pig Patty. Hand cut fries are also available from Guy's Burger Joint. I ordered the Straight Up burger and some fries from Guy's Burger Joint. The crew member working the station quickly assembled the burger which consisted of the buns, meat patty, lettuce, tomato, cheese, onion, and pickles. When I got my burger I walked over to the toppings bar to add a little bit of extra vegetables to the burger and get some ketchup. The toppings bar was self-service and consisted of chili, sauteed mushrooms, sauteed onion, lettuce, tomatoes, onion, pickles, and jalapenos. A condiment dispenser with ketchup, mustard, ranch, chipotle mayo, and regular mayo was available. |
Lido Marketplace Lunch:
Even though the ship's buffet was open for lunch during our port of call stop in Cozumel, the buffet was partially reduced due to most guests being off the ship. Also, some of the crew were off the ship so having less buffet lines open meant less crew were needed to run the buffet. According to the daily What's Happening newsletter, these were our lunch options aboard the Carnival Breeze for the day:
Note: Guy's Pig & Anchor BBQ and Bonsai Sushi were both closed at lunch. Bonsai Sushi was open starting at 5pm, but Guy's Pig & Anchor was closed for the entire day.
Although my first stop for food was Guy's Burger Joint, I still went by and looked at the food options available on the main Lido buffet line. Here are some pictures of the food on the buffet line:

- Seafood Shack - The Seafood Shack is located at the back of the lido buffet by the aft pool. This venue costs extra and was open from 1:00pm until 5:00pm for lunch and was also open for dinner from 5:00pm until 10:00pm.
- Blue Iguana Cantina - 12:00pm - 3:30pm
- Pasta Bar - The pasta bar offers guests the ability to create a customized bowl of pasta. Essentially, guests fill out a paper form that gives options of what can be put in a pasta bowl. The form is turned into a hostess and a crew member makes the bowl of pasta. Caesar salads and garlic bread are also available. This venue was open from 12:00pm until 2:30pm. I'll discuss this is more detail in Day 4's review.
- Guy's Burger Joint - 12:00pm - 6:00pm
- The deli was open for lunch, but was also available for dinner (it closed at 11pm).

I also went and looked at the desserts available for the day. I was very excited to see the Red Velvet Layer Cake available as I have enjoyed this cake on previous cruises. Here are some pictures of the desserts available for the day:
My lunch for the day consisted of a Straight Up burger & fries from Guy's Burger Joint. It was very good! I also got a Caesar salad from the pizzeria. Even though there was no line at the pizzeria it was so slow. For dessert I got a slice of Red Velvet Layer cake. I am not a fan of Carnival's cake icing, but I really enjoyed the cake & cream cheese that was in between each of the cake layers. I also ate a sugar cookie which tasted the exact same as pre-Covid cruises.
After Lunch Walk Around The Ship:
My afternoon was spent walking around the Carnival Breeze and looking at Cozumel from the ship. I started walking around on Deck 12 in the SportsSquare area. The basketball court and mini golf course had nobody using it. I thought about playing a game of mini golf, but did not want to play with my digital camera around my neck.

After walking to the front of Deck 12, I walked down the stairs to Deck 4 and 5. I walked along each of the two decks. The only time I came across other guests was in the Ocean Plaza on Deck 5 and along parts of the Lanai on Deck 5. The ship was very empty as guests were still ashore in Cozumel or outside by the Lido main pool.
Walking along the Lanai was nice. On one side of the ship it was shady as the sun was blocked by part of the ship. The other side of the ship was very sunny. Here are some pictures I took while walking outside along the Lanai on Deck 5:
Walk Up To Deck 9:
After walking around Deck 5, I went up to the very front of Deck 9 to look out from the ship's front. From this area I was able to see that guests were still getting back on the ship. My plan was to come back to this area around 4:00pm to watch late comers return to the ship and look for pier runners. I'll have more on this further down on this page!

My walk around the ship this afternoon didn't have any planned stops, so I went up & down and all over. At one point I walked up to Deck 11, went down to Deck 5, and then went to Deck 3.
While I was on Deck 3 I saw a sign that said "Bubble Tour Meeting Point". This is a part of Carnival's Covid-19 protocols needed to comply with CDC requirements. Carnival is able to offer a very small limited number of vaccine exemptions to guests to get on the cruise as Carnival must comply with the CDC's 95% vaccinated guest requirement in order to have more flexibility with protocols. Unvaccinated guests that received an exemption to cruise are not allowed to explore ports of call on their own and must book a designated "Bubble Tour" from Carnival to go ashore. This sign indicated this was the "Bubble Tour" meeting spot for the designated shore excursions in Cozumel.
After visiting Deck 3, I went up to Deck 10 (Lido Deck) for water. I was thirsty from walking around.

The Lido Marketplace was quiet even though a few buffet lines were still open for lunch. The main lines stayed open an extra hour on this day to feed guests getting back on from Cozumel lunch. After I drank my water, I headed up one deck to the Cucina Del Capitano. On Deck 11, Cucina Del Capitano is located right above the Lido Marketplace. At lunch, Cucina Del Capitano is the ship's pasta bar and serves complimentary pasta, Caesar salad, and bread. At dinner, Cucina Del Capitano is a full service restaurant that serves a variety of Italian dishes for a fee. Here are some pictures of Cucina Del Capitano:
Watching Pier Runners From Deck 9:
Shortly after 4pm I headed up to the front of Deck 9 to look at the people arriving late. Guests were supposed to back onboard by 4:00pm. There were several late guests. Guests on the ship were yelling at those on the pier and it was hilarious to hear some of the people on the pier yell things back.
Sail-a-Way From Cozumel:
Our departure from Cozumel was scheduled at 4:30pm. Due to their being several other guests crowding the front decks, I walked down to the back of Deck 5 to watch our departure from Cozumel. The departure from Cozumel was very different than our departure from Galveston. Leaving Galveston had many different things to see and photograph. Our Cozumel departure consisted of turning around and then seeing the shoreline in the distance.

The Adventure of the Seas departed shortly after we were turned around and sailing away. We would sail near the Adventure of the Seas for a few hours into the evening and then would not see the Adventure of the Seas again until we were back in Galveston.
Dinner in the Sapphire Dining Room:
The Sapphire Dining Room for Your-Time dining guests opened at 5:30pm again. Check-in started on the Carnival Hub App approximately 5 minutes prior to opening. After I checked in on the Carnival Hub App, I was assigned a table within 3 minutes. We got assigned the same table as the previous two nights. Our waitstaff remembered our drink order from the previous night. They brought some sweeteners for my tea as well as some sliced lemons. The bread choices for the evening's dinner were baguette and whole wheat. Both were good, but I liked the baguette more than the whole wheat. My appetizers were Roasted Broccoli & Three Cheese and Caesar Salad. I did not realize the Roasted Broccoli & Three Cheese was a soup so I was surprised when it came as I was expecting to get broccoli pieces that were roasted with cheese on-top. For my main course I got the broiled strip loin steak. It was very tasty and came with some skillet potatoes that I thought were very good. For dessert, I got a banana split off the kid's menu. |
Below you will find a copy of the menus from tonight's dinner. I took a screenshot of these menus through Carnival's Hub App. Click any photo to make it larger!
Here are some dinner food pictures from tonight's dinner:
Deal or No Deal:
At 7:30pm in the Ovation Theater was Deal or No Deal. This gameshow was based on the popular TV show. Guests were able to enter to play by purchasing cards starting a few hours in advance of the game-show starting. Two rounds were played with two different contestants. I greatly enjoyed watching Deal or No Deal and next time I cruise I would like to buy a card to enter for a chance to play on-stage. This was a great entertainment addition and I liked this much more than Hasbro the Game Show that used to be on some Carnival ships. |
Walk Around The Ship:
After watching Deal or No Deal, I went up to Deck 5 to walk around the Lanai. The interior of the Promenade Deck was busy as the casino was open for the evening and the Ocean Plaza was crowded with guests listening to live music. Piano Bar 88 was also open starting at 9pm. Even though I was walking by prior to opening, several guests were already sitting and waiting for the piano bar to begin. The outside Lanai area was not crowded, except when I walked by the smoking area.

After walking around Deck 5's Lanai area I headed up to the Lido Marketplace on Deck 10 to get some water. I liked the taste of the Carnival Breeze's water (side note: I used to dislike the taste of water on cruise ships). The Lido Marketplace's front section was not busy as the only open buffet lines were near the back of the buffet. Some sections of the buffet were closed off for maintenance in the front.
Before heading back down to Deck 1 to go to my stateroom, I took a walk around Decks 11 and 12. There were surprisingly not many people outside. The Lido Deck main pool area was getting cleaned and had no deck chairs outside because the crew were getting ready for the Deck Party that was scheduled for 10:00pm.
When I got back to my stateroom, I saw my stateroom steward came by to clean the room. He left us another towel animal. Before going to bed, I pulled out my laptop to do a pictures back-up (I am paranoid of something happening to my camera or memory card). It was another great day and shortly after laying my head on the pillow, I was fast asleep.
