This part of the review is a continuation of my Day 4 Cozumel review. In Day 4 Part 1 I ended the review with my walk on the road towards downtown. I did not actually reach downtown because it was a far walk, but I did walk probably about a mile away from Puerta Maya.
As I approached the area where the International Pier and Puerta Maya I noticed the traffic was heavy. There were many taxis all over the place. During my walk I saw all of the buildings I had walked by on the other side of the road earlier. I passed back by the Royal Village Shopping Center, 7-Eleven, and a gas station.
After walking around outside Puerta Maya, I was ready to start making my way back to the ship. At the entrance of Puerta Maya an employee was standing offering hand sanitizer to guests re-entering the complex. Once I was back inside Puerta Maya I decided to walk along the beach area to get some more pictures of the ships. There were a good number of people enjoying the deck chairs outside, but it was far less crowded than when I walked by earlier. My only planned stop before getting back on the ship was to stop at the Mayan Fiesta Rum Cake Company. I wanted to stock up on rum cake. Eating these after the cruise is a fun and tasty way to remember the cruise.
I stopped in the Mayan Fiesta Rum Cake Company's Puerta Maya location to buy some rum cakes. Inside the Mayan Fiesta Rum Cake Co. there were samples being served to us of the Mexican Vanilla Rum Cake and Pina Colada rum cake. I liked both of the samples. I ended up buying 6 rum cakes for $36. This was more expensive than my last visit to Cozumel in December 2021, but I love the rum cakes so the price was well worth it.
Walking Back To The Ship - Entering The Pier:
In order to walk back onto the pier, we had to go through a security checkpoint. We had to show our Sail & Sign card to the security guard. The security guard was checking Sail & Sign cards for ship names and sailing dates. There was no wait at this security checkpoint. Once this was done we were able to walk onto the pier. We had to walk through the long shop on the pier before being able to get back to the ship.

Getting Back On The Carnival Breeze:
After walking up the Carnival Breeze's gangway we had our Sail & Sign cards scanned. This was done by a security guard with a handheld tablet. As each person's card was scanned their picture appeared on the screen for security to verify the identity of the cruiser. After getting our Sail & Sign card scanned we had to go through the metal detector & bag screening. All electronic items had to be emptied from our pockets and placed in a bin to go through a separate scanning. Bags, purses, and backpacks also had to be scanned separately. The security checkpoint did not take long! After proceeding through this checkpoint we were free to leave Deck 0.
Before going to lunch I went up to my stateroom on Deck 2 to wash hands. I did not stay in the room long because I was hungry and ready to head up to the Lido!
Getting Lunch From Guy's Burger Joint:
Today for lunch I was hungry for a hamburger and decided to get in line at Guy's Burger Joint. The Carnival Breeze's Guy's Burger Joint line is located outside near the main Lido pool. There are several burger options to pick from at Guy's Burger Joint: Plain Jane, Straight Up, The Ringer, Chilius Maximus, & Pig Patty. Hand cut fries are also available from Guy's Burger Joint.
I ordered the Straight Up burger and some fries from Guy's Burger Joint. The Straight Up burger consisted of buns, meat patty, lettuce, tomato, cheese, onion, and pickles. When I got my burger I walked over to the toppings bar to add a little bit of extra vegetables to the burger and get some ketchup. The toppings bar was self-service and consisted of chili, sauteed mushrooms, sauteed onion, lettuce, tomatoes, onion, pickles, and jalapenos. A condiment dispenser with ketchup, mustard, ranch, chipotle mayo, and regular mayo was available.
Bacon used to be available on the Guy's Burger Joint toppings bar, but was not present anymore. There is still bacon available for the Pig Patty burger so if you really want bacon in your burger I recommend asking the crew member working the counter for a slice of bacon.

Lido Marketplace Lunch:
Even though the ship's buffet was open for lunch during our port of call stop in Cozumel, the buffet was partially reduced due to most guests being off the ship. According to the daily What's Happening newsletter, these were our lunch options aboard the Carnival Breeze for the day:
Note: Guy's Pig & Anchor BBQ and Bonsai Sushi were both closed at lunch. Bonsai Sushi was open starting at 5pm, but Guy's Pig & Anchor was closed for the entire day.

- Seafood Shack - The Seafood Shack is located at the back of the lido buffet by the aft pool. This venue costs extra and was open from 1:00pm until 5:00pm for lunch and was also open for dinner from 5:00pm until 10:00pm.
- Blue Iguana Cantina - 12:00pm - 3:30pm
- Pasta Bar - The pasta bar offers guests the ability to create a customized bowl of pasta. Essentially, guests fill out a paper form that gives options of what can be put in a pasta bowl. The form is turned into a hostess and a crew member makes the bowl of pasta. Caesar salads and garlic bread are also available. This venue was open from 12:00pm until 2:30pm.
- Guy's Burger Joint - 12:00pm - 6:00pm
- The deli was open for lunch, but was also available for dinner (it closed at 10pm).

Below are pictures of the desserts on the Lido Marketplace Dessert station line. The cookies and jello were the same each day of the cruise.
After lunch I took a long walk around the ship. I started on Deck 9 at the front of the ship on the observation deck.
Next, I went down to deck 5 to walk around some on the Lanai. I had a great view of the other ships and pier while walking on the Lanai.
After walking outside for a while I went inside and decided to walk on Deck 4. I stopped at the Club 02 youth program lounge to take some pictures. Club 02 is the youth program for 15-17 year olds. Since the ship was docked in port no organized games or activities were taking place at this time, but I think some events for the teenagers were scheduled for the evening. Below are pictures of the Club 02 youth program lounge:
Non-Smoking (Smoke Free) Casino Annex On Deck 4:
When the Carnival Breeze re-entered service in July 2021 after the Covid-19 shutdown the former conference room was converted into the non-smoking casino. However, when the Carnival Breeze went to dry-dock in March 2022 the smoke free casino was expanded and a casino bar was added. The Carnival Breeze's old Thrill Theater was removed to make room for the casino bar and some additional machines & tables.

On Deck 4 in the atrium area is the Pixels Photo Gallery. The Carnival Breeze's Pixels Photo Gallery has a combination of paper photos and digital photos (some ships are only one or the other). Since the Carnival Breeze was docked in Cozumel the photo gallery was closed at this time, but would be open later in the evening.
Carnival Ecstasy's Sail-a-Way From Cozumel:
The Carnival Ecstasy departed from Cozumel before the Carnival Breeze in order to sail back to Mobile, Alabama. I went to the front of Deck 9 to watch the Carnival Ecstasy pull away from the Puerta Maya Pier complex and then turn around. Knowing that this was the last time I will probably ever see this ship was bittersweet. In July 2022 it will have been 15 years since my first cruise on the Carnival Ecstasy. Carnival Breeze's Cozumel Departure:
The Carnival Breeze departed Cozumel right around 5:00pm. The back onboard time for all guests was 4:30pm and for the most part everyone made it back onto the ship timely. I was on my cove balcony when the Carnival Breeze started to depart from Cozumel. Here are a couple of pictures from our departure from Cozumel:

Fourth Night Dinner in the Sapphire Dining Room:
Once again I had dinner in the Sapphire Dining Room at 5:30pm for Your-Time Dining Room. The doors for the dining room opened promptly at 5:30pm and within minutes I was seated. I was surprised at how busy the dining room got on this night as typically port of call days are slower in the dining room. The waitstaff remembered our names and drink orders. The bread choices for the evening's dinner were ciabatta and petite sourdough. Both were good, but I liked the baguette more than the whole wheat. My appetizers were Shrimp Cocktail and Caesar Salad. For my main course I got the broiled strip loin steak. It was good although had a lot of fat and came with some skillet potatoes that I thought were very good. For dessert, I got apple pie! The apple pie was very tasty. |

Dinner Alternatives For Guests Not Eating In The Main Dining Room:
According to the What's Happening flyer there were a variety of options for guests that were not eating in the main dining room at dinner. Below are some of the options available:

After eating dinner in the Sapphire Dining Room I went outside to Deck 5 to get a few pictures of the sunset. In the distance I was able to see Cancun as the Carnival Breeze started re-entering the Gulf of Mexico. I did not stay outside long as I wanted to watch the first showing of 88 Keys.
Production Show - "88 Keys"
Tonight was another Playlist Productions show in the Ovation Theater. The shows were scheduled at 7:45pm and 9:45pm. The What's Happening newsletter & Carnival Hub app showed the doors opened 30 minutes prior for pre-show fun. There was nothing going on during this 30 minutes so I am not sure if the pre-show fun was cancelled or something changed last minute. When I cruised on the Carnival Freedom in 2017 and saw this show our pre-show fun consisted of some live piano music. Right around 7:45pm, the production show began. The show consisted of a variety of music that had some kind of ties to a piano. I recognized several of the songs. The singers and dancers did a great job once again tonight! 88 Keys is a great show! |
Our day in Cozumel was great and time on the Carnival Breeze was fun! I was tired after the show and wanted to get some good sleep so I could enjoy our last full day of the cruise. After 88 Keys ended I went up to the Lido Marketplace for some water and then went back down to deck 2 to my stateroom.
