Journey: The next six days would be spent crossing the Atlantic Ocean. I wasn’t worried about the sea being too rough since we had experienced an Atlantic crossing several years ago so I knew better what to expect. Day 2 was cloudy, misty and very windy since we were passing through a front. It never actually rained, but the humidity was so high that all the decks were wet. Finally that evening there was a peak of sun at sunset. Days 3-6 were ones of blue skies and sunshine all day although a little breezy and still warm. The cooler days were to come as we got further north in the Atlantic. Day 7 was cloudy and not as warm as the days before. All in all, we had beautiful weather all the way to the Azores which would be our first port.
Things to Do: Each evening a Princess Patter was delivered to our stateroom so that we could see what activities were being offered for the next day. Every day there was a full day’s line up of so many varied opportunities of fun that it was hard to decide what to attend. For example, there were movies being shown morning, afternoon and night on the big screen, Movies under the Stars, located on Decks 16 & 17 Midship. Also movies were shown in the afternoon in the Princess Theater as well as on your stateroom TV. All the movies were very current ones with something for everyone. For those interested in learning to dance or perfect their dance moves, lessons for line dancing, ballroom dancing, flash mob dancing, meringue, bachata or rhumba were held in the Piazza, Deck 5 Midship on different days. Enrichment lectures on such long time favorites such as Bob Hope, Lucille Ball, Danny Kaye, Sid Caesar and Jackie Gleason were presented most days in the Princess Theater. These were not only interesting but hilarious. All types of trivia games were going on each day all over the ship as well as different tournaments in the Casino, Deck 6 Forward. If you were one who loves to sing, there were two different opportunities. One was to sign up for the Pop Choir which had rehearsals every day and the other was to audition for the Voice of the Ocean contest which would be held at the end of the cruise.
Get Togethers: There were two types of these meetings. There were meetings in Club 6, Deck 6 Forward for Veterans and Military Personnel, Service Club members such as Rotarians, Lions and other service organizations, Educators and Teachers, and 1st Responders. Then there were Common Interest at Sea meetings for Motorcyclists; Movie Buffs; Environmentalists; and Cyclists to name a few.

Meet the Cast: This was held in Princess Live, Deck 7 Midship. It was a time when you could meet the singers and dancers and learn about their training and experience as well as find out how they ended up working on a cruise ship. The audience was encouraged to ask questions which the singers and dancers were very gracious to answer. It was fun to get acquainted with the performers that you would be seeing in the four productions that would be highlighted during the cruise.
Fruit & Vegetable Carving Demo: A few of the galley staff artists created masterpieces from various fruits and vegetables. Their carvings and creations were quite unique. This presentation was in the Piazza.
Dinner: Except for the first night, we had Anytime Dining every evening in the Symphony Dining Room, Deck 5 Midship. Dinner was scheduled to start each evening at 5:00pm, but most nights the staff let diners in early. We were fortunate to be seated in a very quiet corner of the dining room and then were able to ask for that same table every night of the cruise. We also had wonderful servers who were very prompt about getting our order in and serving our food which enabled us to make the early entertainment in the Princess Theater each evening. The food was wonderful each night and the selections numerous.
Entertainment: Each night’s entertainment was varied but excellent. Comedian George Casey was very funny. Violinist Chris Walker’s show was called Fireworks on Four Strings and he really lived up to that description. Comedian Jeff Burghart had the audience laughing so hard. Tenor John Dressner , from Colorado, was so talented. The Born to Dance production show was one of the best we had ever seen. It highlighted some of Broadway’s most treasured choreographers and the Regal Princess singers and dancers were amazing. Such a wonderful performance! There were other performers throughout the ship and many opportunities for dancing and listening to music as well as playing games. Something for everyone.
