Breakfast: Our breakfast was a surprise. Many of the breakfast items were fixed with chocolate! Image chocolate waffles and pancakes, chocolate oatmeal, chocolate fountain for different kinds of fruits and the list goes on. Since I often select oatmeal for breakfast, I decided to try it in chocolate. Once was enough for me, even though I am a chocolate lover. You could still get usual breakfast selections so you didn’t have to pick chocolate. Earlier in the week there had been a Norman Love Chocolate Journey demonstration in the Piazza, Deck 5 Midship. Several chocolate specialties were prepared for the audience and then the samples and recipes were shared. Norman Love is a famous chocolatier whose desserts are outstanding if you like chocolate like I do!
Morning Activities: There were many fun activities around the ship on this last full day. One nice addition to the Regal was that on each deck by the elevators there was a monitor that gave the schedule for the day and another one with the list of decks with the actual deck you were on highlighted. A very helpful addition from the last time we sailed on the Regal.
One activity that was a favorite on previous cruises was offered again. The culinary demonstration featuring the Maître D’hôtel and the Executive Chef was held in the Princess Theater. They prepared a favorite entrée, an appetizer and a dessert. The demonstrations have always been informative but also hilarious and these two did not fail as they had the audience in stitches. A tour of the Galley followed the demonstration.

The onboard outlet sale was also going on during the morning. Another sale had been offered earlier in the cruise and seemed to be a popular place for good buys so it was being offered once again in the Symphony Dining Room. There were other places for shopping on the ship on sea days and when the ship was not in port. Some sales were going on in these shops, too, so a good opportunity for a last minute purchase for yourself or someone back home.
Lunch: We ate lunch almost every day in the Horizon Court and usually had a salad and soup, but there were so many other delicious looking choices from the buffet. Other popular places for lunch were the Trident Grill for hamburgers and all the fixings and the Prego Pizza for different kinds of pizza. Both of these were on Deck 16. Many cruisers enjoyed eating around the pool even when it seemed too cool to get into the water. After lunch you could get either a free vanilla or chocolate cone or cup of delicious ice cream at Swirls Ice Cream bar on Deck 16 Midship or go to Gelato in the Piazza, Deck 5 for sweet treats although there was an additional cost.
Afternoon Activities: Another popular place on the ship was the Retreat Pool and Bar especially at the beginning of the cruise when the weather was warmer. But even in the cooler days, it was a nice quiet place to relax.
We usually went to the Internet Café at least once a day to check any messages from home. Princess offers a package for internet use although those who have reached at least Platinum status have a certain number of “free” minutes of internet use. There were about nine computer stations in the Internet Café for use, but cruisers could also use their electronic devices for internet.
At the beginning of the cruise there were auditions for the Voice of the Ocean competition. Those who were chosen to participate had been practicing and the time had arrived for them to perform. The Voice of the Ocean was held in the Princess Theater and as each person entered the theater, he or she was given a voting device to be used at the end of the competition. There were six finalists who were introduced one by one to perform. Three judges were given an opportunity after the person had performed to select them for their team. After the teams were complete, each judge selected one person from their team to perform again. The audience then voted on one of these three finalists. The performers were all very good so it was a difficult decision especially since a mother and daughter were competing against each other. I think that spit the vote because the other contestant won.

During the afternoon we started our packing since we would need to get our luggage out by our stateroom door during the evening to be picked up and ready for disembarkation the next morning. Specific instructions had already been given as to what group you were assigned to and when you would disembark the ship. Deciding what you need for the night and the next morning to put in your carryon bag was a challenge, but once the packing was completed we could enjoy the rest of the evening.
Dinner: The choices for dinner during the fourteen days of the cruise had been excellent. Although it might seem from looking at the photos of our dinner meals that all that was offered was seafood, there was actually a wide variety of entrée selections from prime rib to pork to veal to chicken and always prepared to perfection. The two young men who were our servers for the entire cruise, except for the first night, were exceptional. Friendly, prompt, courteous and very knowledgeable about the menu selections. Couldn’t have asked for better service!

Entertainment: The entertainment for the entire cruise had been very enjoyable. For this last night the Variety Showtime featured two of the entertainers who had performed earlier: Bobby Brooks Wilson and Karen Grainger. It was a treat to get to hear them again. Another enjoyable show each evening (weather permitting) was at the Fountain Pool, Deck 16 Midship where a special water fountain show featuring beautiful colors, sights and sounds was presented for about 15 minutes. Each night’s show was a different theme and music. Loved seeing this show!
