2020 Galveston Texas Cruise Industry: Year At A Glance

12/11/2019

Port of GalvestonTwo Carnival Ships At The Port of Galveston
Galveston's cruise industry grew in 2019 and will continue to grow in 2020. Carnival Cruise Line and Royal Caribbean will have year-round cruises from Galveston throughout 2020 and Disney Cruise Line will sail from Galveston seasonally. Here is an overview of what to expect from cruise lines that sail from Galveston in 2020.

Carnival Cruise Line
Just like 2019, Carnival Cruise Line will continue having three year round ships departing Galveston. At the time of writing, Carnival's 2020 Galveston ship lineup is going to stay consistent throughout the year. The Carnival Vista is scheduled to primarily sail 7 night cruises from Galveston on Saturdays. Carnival Vista's sailings are primarily to either Belize, Roatan, & Cozumel or Montego Bay, Grand Cayman, & Cozumel. Additionally, the Carnival Dream will continue to sail 4 & 5 night cruises from Galveston in 2020. Four nights cruises are to Cozumel and five night cruises alternate between Cozumel and Progreso or Cozumel and Costa Maya.  The Carnival Freedom is also scheduled to continue sailing out of Galveston in 2020. This year will mark the 5th year of the Carnival Freedom sailing out of Galveston! Throughout 2020, the Carnival Freedom will be sailing a variety of 6, 7, and 8 night cruises departing either on Saturdays or Sundays (depending on the itinerary).

Royal Caribbean
Royal Caribbean will once again have two year round ships from Galveston. The Liberty of the Seas will also be celebrating its 5th year of being deployed in Galveston in 2020! Throughout 2020, the Liberty of the Seas will primarily sail 7 night cruise vacations. One itinerary rotation includes port of call stops at Cozumel, Costa Maya, and Roatan. Another port of call itinerary includes stops at Cozumel, Grand Cayman, and Falmouth, Jamaica. Typically, cruises on the Liberty of the Seas depart on Sundays from Galveston's cruise terminal #2.
One change coming for 2020 is the Enchantment of the Seas will be replaced by the Adventure of the Seas to sail 4 & 5 night cruises. The Enchantment of the Seas will sail from Galveston until late October 2020 and the Adventure of the Seas will begin sailing from Galveston in November 2020. 4 night cruises typically visit Cozumel. The five night cruise itinerary alternates between Cozumel & Costa Maya and Cozumel & Yucatan (Progreso). The Adventure of the Seas is larger than the Enchantment of the Seas.

Disney Cruise Line
Disney Cruise Line will once again sail from Galveston seasonally in 2020. The Disney wonder will wrap up its 2019-2020 winter season cruises from Galveston in January 2020. The ship will return in November 2020 for its next winter season deployment from Galveston.

Overall:  The year 2020 is going to be another great year of cruising for Galveston! Capacity from Galveston will grow once again with the replacement of the Enchantment of the Seas with the Adventure of the Seas. With sailings from Carnival, Royal Caribbean, and Disney, there will be a variety of cruise departures from multiple ships during the year. Watching Galveston's cruise industry throughout 2020 for future growth will also be something to look forward to. Cruise terminal #3 for Royal Caribbena is expected to open in fall 2021.
