Carnival Cruise New Room Service Menu - Effective October 2022

9/30/2022

Caesar Salad
Carnival Cruise Line has announced a new room service menu will be in effect onboard starting October 1, 2022. Mr. John Heald, Carnival's Brand Ambassador, announced the changes earlier this week on Facebook. Carnival will offer breakfast from 6am - 10am that includes some complimentary options. However, the rest of the day & night (10am - 6am) there will be no more complimentary options and each item is priced ala carte.

Why The Change?
John Heald addressed the reason why a charge was added for most room service items on Facebook. According to John Heald, the nominal fee is being charged due to food waste.

Below are screenshots of the new room service menu that John Heald provided via Facebook. Please keep in mind item availability, offering, and prices are subject to change!

Carnival Cruise Line Seuss At Sea Green Eggs & Ham Breakfast Is Returning In October 2022

9/18/2022

Carnival Cruise Green Eggs & Ham Seuss BreakfastCarnival Dream's Dining Room Decorated For Seuss At Sea
Carnival Cruise Line has announced the Green Eggs & Ham Breakfast will be returning to all ships in the Carnival fleet effective on sailings starting on or after October 1, 2022.
The Green Eggs & Ham Breakfast is a part of Carnival's Seuss at Sea program and allows guests to pay for admission to a Seuss themed breakfast. The Green Eggs & Ham breakfast typically has appearances by Dr. Seuss characters, photo opportunities, special table décor, and a themed menu to fit the occasion. During a Carnival Cruise the breakfast is offered one time and requires a reservation to attend.
The breakfast was paused when Carnival's ships resumed sailing after the Covid-19 pandemic shutdown. This was due to a variety of factors including the Covid-19 protocols and onboard staffing shortages. Now that the breakfast is scheduled to resume in October 2022 guests sailing can look forward to the Seuss At Sea Green Eggs & Ham Breakfast again!

Price:
Carnival's website shows the Green Eggs & Ham breakfast is priced at $10 for adults and $8 for kids. This is subject to change at any time.

Which Ships Is This Available On?
According to Carnival's website all ships have the Green Eggs & Ham Breakfast. The Carnival Luminosa and Carnival Celebration are scheduled to have the Green Eggs & Ham Breakfast when each ship debuts in November 2022. The Carnival Jubilee is scheduled to have the Green Eggs & Ham Breakfast when the ship debuts in late 2023.

Do you have to have kids sailing with you to attend the breakfast?
The Green Eggs & Ham Breakfast is open to all guests of all ages. Guests do not have to be sailing with kids to buy a ticket to attend the Green Eggs & Ham Breakfast.

When Does The Breakfast Take Place?
Generally the Green Eggs & Ham Breakfast is held only once during the cruise. The exact day held will vary by itinerary. I recommend checking your Carnival Hub App onboard to find out the exact time. You should also plan on buying tickets to the breakfast as soon as they are available for sale as spots are limited. As of the time of writing, it is not clear if tickets will be available for purchase pre-cruise.
Menu:
For the Green Eggs & Ham Breakfast you can view the menu on Carnival's website. I have attached a link below. Once you are on the Carnival Green Eggs & Ham Breakfast webpage on the right side click the menu link. It will likely load as a PDF.

The Carnival Breeze has been sailing out of Galveston, Texas since July 2021 after the Covid-19 pandemic shutdown restart. Since this time the ship has been sailing 4 & 5 night alternating cruise itineraries from Galveston. Carnival recently announced the Carnival Breeze is scheduled to continue sailing from Galveston through April 2025.
Carnival's recent announcement means the Carnival Breeze will keep sailing 4 night cruises to Cozumel and alternating 5 night cruises to Cozumel and Progreso or Costa Maya. The Carnival Breeze's 4 night cruises typically depart on Thursday and 5 night cruises typically alternate between Saturdays and Monday. The new cruise itineraries for summer 2024, fall 2024, and spring 2025 are now posted on Carnival's website and are available for booking.

Carnival Cruise Line Curfew For Young Guests and Highlighting Some Other Onboard Age Restrictions

9/10/2022

PictureCarnival Freedom & Carnival Magic
Carnival Cruise Line has had a Minor Guest Policy for many years, but recently this policy was updated to include a youth curfew for guests under 18.

Youth Curfew:
Carnival has a youth curfew in place that now begins at 1:00am each night of the cruise. Carnival's policy states that guests 17 and younger that are not with an adult in their traveling party that is 21 years or older, must be clear of all public areas unless participating in Club 02 and Circle C activities.
Although Carnival's policy officially states that participating in a Club 02 or Circle C activity is an exemption to this policy, the vast majority of activities for youth guests are generally over by 1:00am.

Drinking Onboard:
Carnival requires guests to be 21 years or older to be served alcohol. Carnival's FAQ states that guests are required to show a photo ID with birth date.

Casino & Bingo Games:
Carnival's rule for the casino is guests must be 18 or older to enter the casino and additionally must be 18 or older to play the casino slot machines or table games. I have seen cases where the casino team has asked guests with their underage kids to leave the casino due to the age policy. If you want to play in the casino, but do not want to leave your kids unattended or alone consider checking them into youth activities & go to the casino while they are in the youth program.
Carnival also requires guests to be 18 years or older to purchase and play Bingo. However, guests under 18 are allowed to watch the game of Bingo, but cannot purchase a card or play the game.

Serenity Adults Only Retreat:
Carnival's age policy for the Serenity Adults Only Retreat is an interesting policy because the name of the amenity implies "adult", but guests must actually be 21 years or older to enter the Serenity Adults Only Retreat. The crew members working the Serenity Adults Only Retreat generally watch to make sure guests utilizing the amenities are above the age threshold.

Fitness Center and Studio:
Carnival requires guests to be 18 years or older in order to use the Fitness Center and Studio amenities by themselves. However, guests 12 - 17 are allowed to use the facilities as long as they are accompanied by a parent or guardian and follow all posted rules.

SPA Facilities:
Carnival's policy requires guests to be 18 years or older to receive SPA treatments or utilize the SPA facilities. This includes SPA amenities such as the sauna, steam room. thermal suite, and Thalassotherapy pool.
An exception to this policy is Carnival's ZSPA offerings. Carnival has some special treatments available for kids aged 13-17 that can be done as long as a parent or guardian accompanies the kid. The policy posted by Carnival states that parents or guardians must sign the SPA's consultation form to indicate consent for the treatment.

Dance Club:
Carnival requires guests younger than 18 to leave the dance club by 10:00pm. This time may vary some by cruise & ship, but generally security checks guests entering to verify they are of age.

Punchliner Comedy Club:
Carnival's policy states guests under 18 are not allowed to attend the "R" rated comedy shows held as part of the Punchliner Comedy Club.

Shore Excursions:
Guests under 18 are required to be accompanied by a parent or guardian on a shore excursion. If there is a minimum age requirement for a particular shore excursion it should be noted.

Other Age Related Policies:
This policy does not include all onboard age restrictions & requirements and additionally does not cover age requirements for booking a cruise, traveling alone, or traveling in separate staterooms. Additionally, please keep in mind Carnival can change age restrictions at any time for any reason so stay tuned to Carnival's official policies for any changes. Carnival Cruise Deal or No Deal Gameshow: Tips & Information

9/5/2022

Picture
A popular activity on several Carnival ships is Deal or No Deal. For Carnival ships that have Deal or No Deal guests are able to buy tickets to play Deal or No Deal. A couple of guests will get to play a full game of Deal or No Deal on stage in a format that is similar to the game show that is on TV. Guests that purchased tickets that are not selected to play on stage are still able to win prizes based on matching briefcases on their ticket. If you don't want to play Deal or No Deal you can watch for free when the game show takes place.  The goal of this post is to share some basic information about Deal or No Deal held onboard Carnival Cruise Line ships. Please note, the Deal or No Deal game can be run differently on each Carnival ship or sailing so this post will share some basic generic information that may vary by sailing.

Purchasing A  Deal or No Deal Game Card:
If you want to play the Deal or No Deal game during your cruise you will need to watch for the game card sales. The Carnival Hub App and What's Happening activity paper will list out the time and location where you buy game cards. As of August 2022, the game cards cost $25 for one card or $40 for two cards and guests must be 18 or older to play. The game cards are typically sold in advance of the Deal or No Deal gameshow so if you want to play you need to watch closely for the sales times. After the time to buy the cards, due to the prep work for the game, it is too late to buy a card to play and then you will just to have to watch in the audience.
When The Game Show Starts:
The time that game show starts should be advertised in the Carnival Hub App and on the What's Happening daily newsletters. Typically the host of the show will let the system randomly pick a guest that purchase a game card earlier during sales. The guest will come up to the stage and play the game. Winnings on stage can be anywhere from 1 cent to $1,000. Guests that purchase a game card, but do not get selected to play on stage still have a chance to win. Throughout the game the guests with game cards have a chance to win based on the brief cases selected. Carnival's website states that the cardholders in the audience could win up to $5,000. Carnival usually has two sessions on stage so two guests generally get to play on stage. Your entertainment team onboard can explain how the game works and rules much better, but the above is a basic summary of the Deal or No Deal game show.
All guests are welcome to watch the Deal or No Deal gameshow. You do not have to purchase a game card to watch.

How Old Do You Have To Be To Play?
Carnival advertises that you have to be 18+ to play  Deal or No Deal and to purchase a game-card. However, guests of all ages can enjoy being in the audience to watch Deal or No Deal (under 18 just cannot play as a contestant or be a game card holder).
How long does watching the Deal or No Deal game show take and where does the event typically take place?
Carnival will typically schedule the Deal or No Deal game show in the ship's main show lounge. On Excel class ships (Mardi Gras, Carnival Celebration, and Carnival Jubilee) the event is typically held in the Center Stage area. Typically, the game-show itself takes an average of 45 minutes. The time and day the game-show is held on your cruise will vary based on when it is scheduled by the cruise director & entertainment team.

What ships is Deal or No Deal on?
Carnival does not have Deal or No Deal on each ship as of August 2022. Currently, Carnival's website shows Deal or No Deal being held on Carnival Breeze, Carnival Conquest, Carnival Dream, Carnival Elation, Carnival Freedom, Carnival Glory, Carnival Horizon, Carnival Legend, Carnival Liberty, Carnival Magic, Carnival Miracle, Carnival Panorama, Carnival Paradise, Carnival Pride, Carnival Radiance, Carnival Spirit, Carnival Splendor, Carnival Sunrise, Carnival Sunshine, Carnival Valor, Carnival Vista, and Mardi Gras. Carnival's website shows Deal or No Deal as coming soon to the Carnival Celebration and Carnival Jubilee. Please note, even though Carnival's website shows these ships as having Deal or No Deal the game may not happen on all itineraries or cruises on a particular ship.

For additional information about Deal or No Deal I recommend you check out this page on Carnival's website:
Click Here To View (link will take you away from RyG's Cruise Guide to Carnival's website)

Please note the Deal or No Deal game show is not on all Carnival ships and the format may vary at Carnival or the ship's discretion. Check onboard your ship for the latest information about Deal or No Deal and for the official rules.
