Early Morning Walk Around The Carnival Freedom:
Around 6:00am my alarm went off and I got up to get ready for the day. On the previous two days of the cruise (Day 4 & Day 5) I was too lazy to take a morning walk around the ship. However, since this was a sea day I wanted to maximize my time around the ship and enjoy the public areas before they became crowded. By 6:30am I had left my stateroom and I headed into the Deck 5 level of the atrium to begin my walk.

However, since this was a sea day I wanted to maximize my time around the ship and enjoy the public areas before they became crowded. By 6:30am I had left my stateroom and I headed into the Deck 5 level of the atrium to begin my walk.
The Skybox Sports Bar is on the Promenade Deck (5). Cruisers can enter the Skybox Sports Bar through the casino or the Deck 5 level of the atrium. The area behind the bar counter has large screens that display sports games and the back of the sports bar has a ticker that displays various sports news & information.
Since it was early in the morning the Promenade Deck (5) was virtually empty. Many crew members were cleaning various areas of the Promenade Deck as well as the rest of the ship.
When I reached the back part of the Promenade Deck (5) I walked into the Swingtime Jazz Club. The Swingtime Jazz Club is located right by the International Lounge. Later in this day, I would spend a large amount of time in the Swingtime Jazz Club playing trivia. On my morning walk, I did not go into the International Lounge because several crew members were doing deep cleaning and I did not want to disturb them.
After walking around the Promenade Deck, I headed down one deck to the Atlantic Deck (4). The Habana Bar was one of the areas I walked through as I went from the back of the ship to the front. Please note, the Habana Bar is not the same thing as the Havana Bar that is on some of Carnival's newer ships.
The Chic Dining Room was being setup for the evening's dinner. Since it was our 2nd formal night of the cruise, the tables were being setup with tablecloths and a fancier place setting. I walked along the Deck 4 level of the Chic Dining Room and looked down at the lower level (Deck 3) of the dining room as I walked by. There were crew members working in the dining room and all of them were friendly as we walked through.
From Deck 4 I walked down to the Deck 3 level of the atrium. I did not stay on Deck 3 long and decided to head up to the Lido Deck (9) to see if breakfast was open early (which is wasn't).
On the Lido Deck (9) the pool was still closed and there were many empty deck chairs. Crew members were cleaning different parts of the deck on both the Lido Deck (9) and the Panorama Deck (10).
As I got closer to the buffet, I walked by the Blue Iguana Tequila Bar and Red Frog Rum Bar. Each of these bars are on separate sides of the pool. The Red Frog Rum Bar is not the same thing as the Red Frog Pub. The Carnival Freedom's Red Frog Pub is located on the Promenade Deck (5) and the Red Frog Rum Bar is on the Lido Deck (9).
Guy's Burger Joint and the Blue Iguana Cantina were still closed as I walked by. Guy's Burger Joint would be open for lunch, but the Blue Iguana Cantina was getting ready to open for breakfast.
The Continental Breakfast buffet line was already open. Pastries, fruits, yogurt, milk, and juices were available for cruisers to enjoy.
Breakfast In The Freedom Restaurant:
For today's breakfast I went to the omelet station located at the Deli. The omelet station opened promptly at 7:30am and I was one of the first people in line. Unlike the Mongolian Wok omelet station, the Deli's omelet station had a few side items available. The ability to get food such as bacon, sausages, potatoes, french toast, and more, can save cruisers a trip to the main buffet lines. For cruisers that wanted to eat at the Freedom Restaurant (lido buffet) , breakfast was scheduled to begin at 7:30am and end at 10:30am. Continental breakfast (pastries, juices, and fruits) opened at 6:30am. Late Risers Breakfast was scheduled for 10:30am - 12:00pm in the Freedom Restaurant. For cruisers that did not want to eat breakfast in Lido buffet, Sea Day Brunch was available in the Posh Restaurant (aft main dining room) from 8:30am - 1:00pm. |
After breakfast, I took a short walk around the outside open decks. I went up to Deck 10 and later moved up one deck to Deck 11.
The Carnival Freedom's mini golf course is located on Deck 12. However, to get to the mini golf course cruisers must go to the volleyball & basketball court entrance on Deck 11. Once inside the volleyball and basketball court, there is a stairwell that takes cruisers up to Deck 12. The golf clubs and golf balls are all located right by the mini golf course. At this time of the morning, there were no people playing mini golf.
After looking at the mini golf course on Deck 12, I headed down to Deck 10 to have a look at the Sun King Steakhouse. The steakhouse costs extra.
Carnival Cruise Trivia:
After breakfast, we went to the Swingtime Jazz Club for several trivia games. However, my favorite was the Carnival Trivia that was held at 11:30am. The questions consisted of a variety of random things related to Carnival's past and present. We won Carnival trivia and received a ship on a stick. Although some of the trivia questions were 10 years out of date, I enjoyed playing the game.

Lunch Day #6:
For today's lunch I went to the Blue Iguana Cantina for tacos. I asked for some guacamole and the crew member gave me a nice large helping of guacamole. It was good!
Today the Chef's Choice buffet line was serving Italian food. Here are some of the food options from today's lunch:

After Lunch Walk Around The Ship:
After eating lunch, I headed up from Deck 9 to Deck 10. I walked across Deck 10 to the very front of the ship. Some deck chairs were empty, but close to the pool almost all of the deck chairs were taken.

After walking around Deck 10, I went up to Deck 12. I walked to the Camp Ocean playground equipment. Throughout the cruise I never saw this equipment get used by any kids. I looked down from the glass at the front of the ship and I was able to see Deck 10 below.
After looking around Deck 12, I went inside and walked down the stairs to the Lobby Deck (3). The atrium lobby was crowded with people sitting in the chairs, at the bar, and lining up for Guest Services. I went outside to have a look at the ocean from the covered areas on Deck 3.
Tea Time:
I went with some family to tea time. I am normally an iced tea drinker, but I gave hot tea a chance. The tea time for the day was being held in the Posh Restaurant from 3:00pm until 4:00pm on the Deck 4 level of the dining room. Prompty at 3:00pm, the doors to the dining room opened and we were seated. First, a waiter came around with hot water and a few minutes later another waiter came with some tea packets. Green tea, regular tea, and decaf tea were all free. However, flavored teas were $2.00. We all got some of the free tea packets.
Throughout our time in the dining room, the waiters and waitresses came around to offer us several desserts including scones, cakes, macaroons, and strawberries with cream. The desserts all looked good and they tasted good too! Here are some pictures:

Before getting ready for formal night, I went to front of Deck 6 to have a look out. The weather was nice throughout the day!
Formal Night: "American Feast" Dining Room Experience In The Chic Dining Room:
Tonight was our second formal night of the cruise, which meant the dining room attire was more formal than the other nights. The doors to the dining room opened at 5:30pm since the crew members were expecting more people to eat in the dining room. At 5:30pm, the dining room opened and within minutes we were seated. We had the same table and waitstaff as the previous few nights. They remembered our names once again and also remembered our drink preferences. The food and service were great!

After dinner I wanted to change before lining up to enter the Victoriana Theater. I went back to my stateroom and changed clothes. While we were at dinner our stateroom steward came by and turned our room down for the evening. He also left clean towels and did some basic cleaning to the stateroom.
I went outside to look at the sunset before heading to the Victoriana Theater. I almost missed the sunset, but I saw the tail end before the sun became hidden by some clouds in the distance.
Playlist Productions Show: "Heart of Soul"
Tonight's production show was "Heart of Soul". This was our final major production show of the cruise. The first showing of Heart of Soul was scheduled for 8:15pm and the second showing was scheduled to begin at 10:15pm. The pre-show entertainment for each showing started 15 minutes prior to each of the scheduled shows. Once again, the singers and dancers did a great job! I enjoyed the show and the time spent watching passed by quickly. I wanted to see the 2nd showing, but I was too tired from getting up early in the morning. After some internal debate, I decided to go to sleep instead of going to the second show. |
