When my previous part of the cruise review left off, we were walking around Punta Langosta. Punta Langosta is a cruise terminal & shopping complex near Downtown Cozumel. One of the stores we stopped at while visiting Punta Langosta was a rum cake store. This store sold a variety of rum cake flavors. During our visit, the store employees had vanilla and pina-colada rum cake samples for everyone to try. Both samples were good, but I enjoyed the vanilla rum cake sample better. We bought a couple to take home since these cakes were very tasty.
After walking around the lower level Punta Langosta's shopping complex, we walked up to the upper level. More shops were located upstairs. Here are some pictures taken while walking around the upper level:
Taxi Ride Back To Puerta Maya:
The taxi ride from Punta Langosta for 6 people cost us another $16. The ride back took a little longer than the ride to Punta Langosta because part of the main road was blocked off for construction. Due to this our driver had to take a few back roads that ran parallel with the main road. It was interesting seeing a different part of Cozumel and areas that are beyond where most tourists go. Here are some pictures taken from the taxi ride:

Once we got past the road construction our driver turned back to the main road. Once on this road, I recognized many of the resort, hotel, and shopping landmarks that we see almost every time we visit Cozumel.
After getting back to Puerta Maya I wanted to make one more quick stop at the beach before getting back on the ship.
Walking Back To The Ship - Entering The Pier:
In order to walk back onto the pier, we had to go through a security checkpoint. Typically, this checkpoint is located where the on-pier shopping building begins, but due to construction the security checkpoint was located outside where crew members typically enter. We had to show our Sail & Sign card to the security guard. Once this was done we were able to walk onto the pier. After walking a few feet we came to open doors to the part of the on-pier shops that wasn't being renovated. However, since no local shop employees or security were standing outside to direct us in we continued walking through the crew only part of the pier. This was the first and probably will be the last time we can bypass the shops. Here are some pictures I took walking on the pier:

Getting Back On The Carnival Valor:
After walking up the Carnival Valor's gangway we had our Sail & Sign cards scanned. This was done by a security guard with a handheld tablet. As each person's card was scanned his or her picture appeared on the screen for security to verify the identity of the cruiser. One thing I noticed was security carefully looked at each person's picture and then looked at the cruiser. I am glad that Carnival's security guards did a detailed job with this! After getting our Sail & Sign card scanned we had to go through the metal detector & bag screening. All electronic items had to be emptied from our pockets and placed in a bin to go through a separate scanning. Bags, purses, and backpacks also had to be scanned separately. The security checkpoint did not take long! After proceeding through this checkpoint we were free to leave Deck 0.
TIP: Do not wear sunglasses as you reboard the ship. Security will make you take them off when trying to look at your picture.

My first stop for lunch was the Carnival Valor's pizzeria. The pizzeria serves caesar salads, which are made to order.
Lunch In Rosie's Lido Buffet:
Today the Chef's Choice buffet line was Italian. The options on the Lido Buffet for today were as follows:

Afternoon Walk Around The Carnival Valor:
After lunch I went to the ship's gym to walk 2 miles. However, after doing the treadmill I walked around the ship. Since my afternoon walk was in the later afternoon, the Carnival Miracle was getting ready to leave. It appeared the ship was waiting for a handful of passengers. Here are some pictures I took as I walked around the ship's exterior decks:

I was outside when the Carnival Miracle began sailing. It was exciting seeing the ship leave. In the distance I was able to see the Carnival Fantasy departing Punta Langosta.
Dinner in the Lincoln Dining Room:
Once again, we ate dinner in the Lincoln Dining Room. The dining room opened right at 5:45pm and we were seated almost immediately. Since many cruisers had been gone all day most people were not in a hurry to eat dinner in the dining room. The line to get into the dining room was much smaller than on the other nights. We had the same table and waitstaff again on this night of the cruise. They did a great job and all of the food was great! |
After dinner I went to Deck 11 and walked on the jogging track. The view was nice, but the wind was strong. Walking on one side of the ship was difficult. I did not stay on the jogging track too long because of wanting to head inside for Hasbro the Game Show in the Ivanhoe Theater.
Hasbro The Game Show In The Ivanhoe Theater:
Instead of a Playlist Productions show, tonight's entertainment was Hasbro the Game Show. When the show began our cruise director, T.J., came out and selected people from the crowd to be on teams. He did this by doing Scattergories questions and random trivia questions. This was a fun and fair way to select people. This cruise Yahtzee Bowling and "Operation Sam Dunk". At the end, all of the winners got to stick their big card into the Monopoly Electronic Banking Machine. |
