Breakfast: Today for breakfast I ate in the South Beach Club. The buffet was crowded because of many people needing to get off quick when the ship docked for excursions & tours. I had an omelet from the aft buffet line. This was my favorite buffet line at breakfast because the crew was friendly, the omelets were very good, and I could serve myself all of my food (except bacon). The "Bacon Police" were present throughout this cruise, unlike on my Miracle cruise to Alaska. Breakfast was good and here are some pictures:
Typically after breakfast the pool would already have people using the pools & deck chairs. There were very few people today because most people were going to get off the ship in Cozumel, Mexico. The first picture on the next row is of the Lido Mid Ship area. The next five pictures were taken in the AFT Pool area where the retractable roof is.
Here are some pictures taken in the Lido Deck Mid Ship area:
Arrival Into Cozumel, Mexico: The ship arrived earlier than scheduled. As the ship arrived I was on the Lido Deck front area. This area was not crowded and had plenty of room for people to enjoy the view. Here are some pictures I took as the ship arrived in Cozumel, Mexico.
Getting Off The Ship To Visit Cozumel: The gangway was located on Deck 0. This is typically a crew deck except for the infirmary. On Deck 0 there was a crew member trying to sell bottled water, a crew member distributing Fun Finds Shopping Maps, and a crew member yelling that no food was allowed off the ship. The line to get off moved very quick and within 5 minutes I was getting my card scanned to disembark the ship. Here are some pictures taken from the pier off the ship and some pictures of Cozumel:
Taxi Ride to Punta Langosta: We spent about 30 minutes at Puerta Maya, but we wanted to take a taxi to Punta Langosta. Punta Langosta is where the majority of Carnival ships used to dock when Puerta Maya was closed. The dining room waiters on the ship told us that t-shirts and gifts were really cheap in this area when there was not a cruise ship in. The taxi ride cost about $8 for three people and only lasted about 10 minutes. The taxi driver was in a bad mood and also drove us past our destination to a jewelry store that had people waiting to take us into their shop. He probably was going to get a commission for any purchases that we would make in his friend's shop. We didn't buy anything in that overpriced store.
The taxi driver we had did not understand what "Punta Langosta" was. The internet calls it that, but I am not sure that is the name that the locals give the pier. We finally told the driver "the old cruise ship dock" and that seemed to get us where we wanted to go. If you plan on taking a taxi to this area you might want to do some research on the internet before your cruise.

Since our taxi driver drove about a 1/2 mile past where we wanted to go we had to walk back to the Punta Langosta pier shops. Many of the shops on the way were very intent on luring any tourists into their shop. We went into one shop and thought that the man was never going to let us out. After that we did not go into any more shops until we reached Punta Langosta. For the most part, many of the shops we went into had cheaper prices and were willing to bargain with the prices. Here are some pictures taken at Punta Langosta and around the area:
Taxi Ride Back to Puerta Maya Pier: This taxi ride was a lot better than the first. Before we left for the cruise we heard that on the ride back the taxi drivers would make the price a few dollars higher. Luckily this did not happen and we were charged the correct amount. This driver was very friendly and told us about how cruise ships impact the area's economy. The ride back only took about 10 minutes too.
Here are some pictures taken at Puerta Maya Pier:
Getting Back Onboard The Ship: At the entrance of the pier a Cozumel Security Officer checked our passports and Sail & Sign cards. On the ship our cards were scanned and the security officers were checking our face to the picture they had stored of us in their system. Next was a security check. All electronics, cell phones, etc., had to be removed and put into a bin to be scanned separately. Two people in front of me set the "people-security scanner" off. I also set the security scanner off (and I did not have any electronics or metal objects) and the person behind me also set off the scanner. The person behind them did not set it off, but the person behind that person set it off. Security was using a wand to check all of the people who set off the scanner. I think the security machine was defective.
Lunch in South Beach Club: The buffet was not crowded and the majority of buffet lines were open. My lunch pictures are in photo gallery format which means there are not any captions. Here are the lunch pictures:
After lunch I walked around some and then did the waterslide.
Getting Stuck In the Waterslide: I got stuck in the ship's waterslide three times. The first time I sat up after the first turn and had to paddle myself down. The next two times I lost my momentum. When I did move the waterslide was a lot of fun. It is not fun getting stuck in the slide.

The first picture on the next row is of a stairwell that was closed for almost half of the cruise. This stairwell was getting redone.
Didn't Carnival have over three months to do this work? Oh well, the staircase on the other side was open.

Be Back Onboard At 3:30, Not 4:30PM.
The ship was scheduled to depart Cozumel at 4:00PM. The Funtimes told everybody to be back onboard at 3:30PM as well as a sign at the gangway did too. Around 4:00PM I went outside to the front to look for "pier-runners". The picture to the left was taken around 4:15PM. The ship was delayed and left between 4:30 and 5:00. Many of the people on the pier were yelling and screaming because I think they were drunk. I think everybody ended up making it onboard because of the large amount of extra time. This did not delay the ship's arrival back to Galveston. |
Here are some pictures that I took as the ship departed Cozumel, Mexico:
Dinner in London Dining Room: Today's dinner started at the published time of 5:45pm. The service was once again very good and the food was also good! The pictures I took are posted in photo gallery format and no food name captions are included. Here are the pictures:
After dinner our stateroom had a new towel animal and Funtimes for the next day. Also the staircase that was closed was open by the late evening and the staircase on the other side was closed and had the steps removed. The third picture on the next row is of deck chairs in the atrium because space was needed outside for the deck party.
