Breakfast: Since we had to move our clocks forward the night before, it just seemed the right time to sleep a little later and enjoy a leisurely breakfast. For the really early risers a continental breakfast was available at 5:00am in the Horizon Bistro. At 6:00-11:30am a full breakfast with many, many choices was served in the Horizon Court. In fact, there were so many choices it was difficult to decide what to select. I finally decided on a freshly made omelet of ham, Swiss cheese, green pepper and spinach. There were many more ingredients that you could choose from, but I saved those for another day. Along with fresh fruit, bacon and a delicious pastry from the Pastry Shop, I enjoyed every bite.
Morning Activities: There were so many activities listed in the Princess Patter that there seemed to be something for everyone’s interests. Everything from Zumba to line dancing and ballroom dance classes, a shopping spotlight show and an art seminar, bingo and morning team trivia was available sometime during the morning. There was also a Princess pop choir rehearsal for those singers who wanted to prepare for a fun concert to be presented the last day of the cruise. Since the Regal was a new ship for me, I enjoyed wandering around this beautiful ship discovering all that there was to see. A new feature was the skywalk which allowed you to view the ocean below you much as the captain does.
Lunch: Another place to have lunch was the Ocean Terrace Seafood Bar (Deck 7 Midship) overlooking the Piazza area. Premium seafood was served, but a la carte pricing applied.
Afternoon Activities: Again so many activities were listed in the Princess Patter. You could choose to attend a basic photo class in the Princess Live Studio (Deck 7 Midship), learn to play a steel drum Symphony Dining Room (Deck 5 Midship), or watch the afternoon movie (Deck 16 Movies under the Stars). If a history buff, an enrichment lecture on Columbus and the discovery of America was held in the Princess Theater. A Veteran and Military Get-Together for all branches of service from all nations was held in Club 6 (Deck 6 Fwd). If you enjoy afternoon tea, there were two opportunities. One was Royal Afternoon Tea served in Sabatini’s (Deck 5 Fwd). There was an extra charge for this formal teatime which could include champagne and reservations were recommended. The second was the informal afternoon tea served in the Concerto Dining Room (Deck 6 Midship) and included fancy sandwiches, little cakes and cookies as well as my favorite, scones with strawberry jam and whipped cream.

Internet Café: An embarkation special was being held in the Internet Café (Deck 5 Midship). If an internet time plan was purchased this first day, you would receive up to 40 additional minutes free. This was a popular place on the ship!
Formal Night: Since this was the first of two formal nights, a dress code in the Princess Patter encouraged those having dinner in the Traditional Dining and Anytime Dining venues to wear appropriate formal wear which included evening gown, cocktail dress or elegant pant suit for women with tuxedo, dark suit or dinner jacket and slacks for men. Most diners I observed were dressed very nicely although some were more casual. I didn’t see anyone turned away if they did not adhere to the “dress code”. Our meal was wonderful with many choices.
Evening Entertainment: The title for the entertainment in the Princess Theater was Sweet Soul Music featuring the Regal Princess Dancers and Orchestra. It was described as “unmistakable rhythms of a golden era of music…” It was very colorful, energetic and loud! First performance was at 8:00pm and the second at 10:00pm. After the early show, there were many spots for more entertainment throughout the ship. One musician that we had seen on a previous cruise was the piano and vocal entertainer Tommy McPhee in the Crooners Lounge (Deck 7 Midship). He always had a good show.
