Note About The Sea Day: The seas were rough throughout the day.
Note About The Sea Day: The seas were rough throughout the day.
Breakfast: Since we were sailing across the North Sea towards Norway, we had to set our clocks forward and lost an hour. Although breakfast was being served as early as 5:00am in the Café Caribe, 6:00am in the Horizon Court Buffet and 7:30am in the Coral Dining Room, we had a late breakfast in the Horizon Court Buffet. There were so many choices to make for breakfast - everything from granola, hot and cold cereals, eggs fixed almost anyway you wanted including omelets made to order, all kinds of pastries, crisp bacon and English style bacon, sausages, baked beans, cold cuts, cheeses, fresh fruits of all kinds, yogurt, etc. The line in the buffet was a little crowded since most people also slept in and breakfasted late. The waiters/waitresses took your order for coffee, tea and juices and brought it to your table.
Morning Activities: The “Princess Patter” (daily activity newsletter) listed many activities for the day. Everything from Bible study, ping pong, Sudoku, movie, line dance class, demonstration of fruit & vegetable carving, trivia, and basketball challenge. We chose to attend the destination lecture on Bergen since that would be our first port and we wanted to know as much as possible about what we would see. The destination expert was very knowledgeable and informative.
Lunch: A British-style pub lunch was offered in the Crown Grill. The lunch was complimentary but the drinks were not. There was also a Tex Mex lunch buffet served in the Cafe Caribe.
Afternoon Activities: Many more activities were offered throughout the afternoon. These included the 50th anniversary Sound of Music Princess Pop Choir rehearsal for those passengers with a singing voice (or not) who wanted to meet with others to learn selections from the Sound of Music. These would be presented to an audience later in the cruise. There were also game rooms designated for cards, mahjong or board games as well as informal bridge games. The destination expert presented a lecture on our second port, Lerwick in the Shetland Islands.

Internet Café: We spent some time setting up our internet account. There were several plans you could chose from depending on how many minutes you thought you might need to use while on the ship. Although the Internet Café was open 24 hours, the Internet Manager was available to assist only at certain times during the day.
Formal Night: The first of three formal nights was tonight in each of the three dining rooms. On other Princess Cruises we have been on, the formal wear was a little more casual. But this formal night almost all the men were wearing coats and ties while the women were in dressy attire. The food was delicious as always and the service wonderful!
Evening Entertainment: There were many places on the ship that were entertaining with a variety of musical offerings; we chose the production show “Do You Wanna Dance” with the Caribbean Princess Singers & Dancers in the Princess Theater. The show was exceptional and comparable to a Broadway show. It was great fun.
