Here are more photos that I took on the Lanai on the Promenade Deck (5). The first picture on the row below is of one of the bean bag toss boards. I really like the design of the Carnival Dream's bean bag toss boards. The middle picture below is of one of the ship's large chess sets that sits outside on the Lanai. There is a board on each side of the ship on the Lanai.
Here are some photos that I took inside Deck 5. The first picture is of the main FunHub station. FunHub is the internet cafe onboard the Carnival Dream. There are a few websites that are Carnival's that you can access for free, but otherwise you must pay for internet. The main screen of each FunHub computer is of a website that gives a list of the expected weather conditions, daily activities, and other ship information. This website is free and does not require internet minutes to use. The next photo is of the ship's atrium. It was surprisingly empty since it was the mid afternoon.
The first two pictures below are of the Encore Theatre. This is the area where many big events such as Bingo, Production Shows, and different talks took place. There are three different levels of the Encore Theatre and the theatre is located on Decks 3,4,and 5.
The third picture in the row below is of a plague located on Deck 5 that commemorates the Carnival Dream's inaugural sailing from New Orleans. This display is located outside of the Deck 5 entrance to the Encore Theatre and it can be found with other commemorative plagues.

Next I went up to Deck 9 (Vista) for a different view of the scenery outside. This front area on this deck is located directly above the navigational bridge.
Muster Station Drill:
The Muster Station drill is always a required event for every passenger on the cruise ship. My muster station was A3 which was the Deck 3 level of the Encore Theatre. The cruise terminal told everyone the muster station drill would be at 3:15pm, but the daily newsletter said 3:30pm. The muster station drill officially started around 3:40pm. I arrived at my muster station around 3:10pm and got a good seat in the very back of the lounge. There were some other passengers already in the lounge and more came in after me. Around 3:30pm the crew members were instructed to proceed to their stations and soon after the guests were told to go to their stations. The muster station drill went by quickly and the crew working my station did a good job to make the drill go by faster. The drill consisted of safety announcements, what to do in an emergency, and some general information about environmental policies & hand washing. Everyone was dismissed from the drill depending on their locations. Mine was released first along with one other. The back row was dismissed first and the crew made sure that everyone remained seated until the row behind them had completely left. |
Since I was one of the first people out of the Muster Station drill I was able to quickly get to the spot I wanted to be on to see New Orleans as we sailed away. I choose the Lanai on Deck 5 at the very back. This area had lower railings and I wanted to be at the back to see New Orleans as the ship gets further away. It is a good thing that I was able to quickly get to this spot because many others had this area in mind too. Here are some photos that I took before the ship sailed on my way to the spot I wanted to be at to watch:
Sail-A-Way: The ship was scheduled to leave around 4:00pm, but it did not actually leave until around 4:40pm. One of the reasons why this may have been delayed was not all supplies were loaded and the muster station drill did not start on-time. Here are some photos I took during sail-a-way.
It took less than 15 minutes for the ship to turn around and make the first turn on the river. On the first turn the ship tilts slightly to one side, but after a few minutes everything is level again. Here are some more pictures that I took as the ship continued to sail away from New Orleans:
Dinner: I had Your-Time Dining which means I could dine in a specific dining room from 5:45pm until about 9:00pm. My assigned dining room was the Crimson Dining Room on the Deck 3 level. The entrance was located in the atrium. By 5:15pm each night the dinner line was already formed and it got long. Dinner started promptly at 5:45pm and the hostesses working the entrance were very friendly and accomodating. Each night of the cruise we had the same waitstaff: Kanya, Luisito, and I Ketut. This waitstaff was one of the best I have ever had and all have been with Carnival more than 7 years. The food that was served was great and tonight I had the Fried Chicken Tenders, Caesar Salad, Sweet & Sour Shrimp, and Warm Chocolate Melting Cake. The Warm Chocolate Melting Cake was good, but it was not prepared correctly tonight and was almost all cake.
I have included some pictures of the menu and of food dishes that were served to the people at my table. Please enjoy the photos:

Looking Outside After Dinner: After dinner I went outside on Deck 5 to see what I could see outside. The photos below were taken around 7:00pm. I could not stay outside long because the Welcome Aboard show was coming up in a few minutes and I wanted to get a good seat.
Welcome Aboard Show: The welcome aboard show was held at 7:30pm in the Encore Theatre. There were very few empty seats and I managed to get one at the very back. I arrived about 20 minutes prior to the show. The show started with the dancers and singers. This welcome aboard show has been around for a long time and was just as good as always. I was impressed with the lead singers and the showband. The singers did a great job and the showband had only about 6-7 members and played very strong.
After the Welcome Aboard Show it was time to walk around a little more on the outside decks to see what I could see:

Stateroom Nightly Turndown: My stateroom was turned down for the night when I returned to go to bed. The beds were nicely made and a towel animal was left. Also a copy of the next days newsletter, some flyers, and mini chocolates were left. Although I didn't get to meet the steward, he did keep the room clean.
