Morning Walk Around The Carnival Vista:
Today was our second sea day on the Carnival Vista. Just like the day before I decided to get up a little bit early to take a walk around the ship. My alarm went off at 5:45am and by 6:05am I was out of my stateroom. I decided to begin the morning walk on the Lido Deck (10) because I did not feel like I had enough pictures of the ship's main Lido pool area and Lido Marketplace buffet. The sun was in the process of rising when I first stepped outside, but I had to wait a few minutes to take pictures because my camera lenses fogged up. |
The Carnival Vista's main pool area had many chairs setup around the pool. At this time of the morning there were no people using the pool or deck chairs yet. However, I did see people out on Decks 11 and 12 looking at the sunrise. On my morning walks on other cruises I have rarely seen people out looking at the sunrise. It nice to not be the only person out on the ship! Here are some pictures of the ship's main Lido pool area:
After walking around the main Lido pool area I walked into the Lido Marketplace buffet. It was still being setup for breakfast. The Carnival Vista's buffet lines had shades that could be closed when serving lines are being prepared. This kept people from taking food before the buffet was open. Although the main breakfast buffet lines were closed, the buffet was already serving pastries and fruit. Also, the drink machines were already serving breakfast juices.
Soft serve ice cream is available in the Lido Marketplace 24 hours a day. The Carnival Vista's ice cream and frozen yogurt machines are located near the front of the buffet on each side. I think at night one side's machines are closed, but I saw at least one side open each night. Cups and cones are available for ice cream. The Pizzeria del Capitano is available 24 hours also. Here are some Lido Marketplace pictures:

After walking around the Lido Marketplace I went to the very back of the Lido Deck. This area has the Tides Bar and aft pool. The Pizzeria del Capitano serving counter can be found in the back. On the opposite side of the ship is the Seafood Shack. The Seafood Shack is not complimentary and has a charge for each menu item.
When I finished walking around Deck 10 I headed up to Decks 12 & 14 to look at the SportsSquare area. The mini golf course, jogging track, and basketball court were open for use. However, the SkyRide and SkyCourse (ropes course) were not yet open for the day. Here are some pictures of SportsSquare:
*** Spoiler Alert: Don't Read This Paragraph If You Want To Find The Ship's Coin On Your Own ***
Each time I am on a different ship I try to spot the ship's coin. Typically, a coin ceremony is held during the ship's construction. The Carnival Vista's coin had the ship's name engraved in it. I found the ship's coin on Deck 15 near the stairs to get on the WaterWorks waterslides.

After walking around outside I began walking down the front stairs. I came across the ship's arcade, which is known as The Warehouse. The arcade had a variety of different video games, prize games, and arcade tables (such as air hockey). Just like other Carnival ships, the arcade is not complimentary. The games are a pay for each game. Platinum and Diamond guests under 18 years old get a small arcade game credit, but that is the only free arcade credits I am aware of.
Next, I went down to Deck 4 to have a quick look inside the Liquid Lounge. There were no activities or events taking place in the lounge at this time of the morning.
The ship's atrium was also quiet. I took a look down as I crossed the Deck 4 level of the atrium. There are shops located on the Deck 4 and Deck 5 levels of the Carnival Vista's atrium. On other classes of Carnival ships (such as Conquest & Dream classes) the photo gallery is located on Deck 4. However, the Carnival Vista's Deck 4 level of the atrium did not have the photo gallery. I liked this design much more! For reference the Carnival Vista's photo gallery is located on Deck 5 near the Ocean Plaza.
After walking around Deck 4, I made a quick visit to the Carnival Vista's Ocean Plaza on Deck 5. However, breakfast time was approaching and I wanted to get to the buffet early. I took a few pictures of the Ocean Plaza and then headed to the Lido Marketplace to get some breakfast.
Second Breakfast On The Carnival Vista:
Once again, I ate breakfast at the Carnival Vista's Lido Marketplace buffet. For cruisers that wanted to eat at the Lido Marketplace , breakfast was scheduled to begin at 7:00am and end at 12:00am. The Blue Iguana Cantina did not open for breakfast until 7:30am, but it closed at 10:30am. For cruisers that did not want to eat breakfast in Lido buffet, Sea Day Brunch was available in the Horizons Dining Room (aft main dining room) from 8:30am - 1:00pm. Another dining option was a Continental Breakfast buffet line at the Ocean Plaza that was open from 8:00am until 10:00am. These are the same dining times as Day 2's sea day breakfast times.
Due to feeling too full the day before from my omelet, I decided to visit the main breakfast buffet line. I had some french toast, bacon, fruit, and a pastry. Carnival's french toast is great. Other cruisers must have thought the same thing because there were several times during the cruise where the crew members had trouble keeping the french toast in stock. Guests would ask for a fresh thing of french toast to be put out and the crew members would have to say they did not have any already made stored behind the counter. The food options were very similar to the first day's breakfast.

After breakfast I took a walk around the outside decks of the ship. My plan for the morning was to walk around, go to morning trivia, attend the morning show, and then get on the SkyRide. It was going to be a busy morning! Here are some pictures as I walked around the ship:
Morning Show & Morning Trivia:
Today's morning trivia was being held at 9:30am in the Liquid Lounge. Once again, the morning trivia consisted of a variety of different types of questions. Some of today's questions were hard, but the trivia was enjoyable. Due to the trivia being scheduled 15 minutes prior to the morning show, it was a rapid trivia session. I think there were only 11 trivia questions for this session of trivia.
The morning show began around 9:45am. Our cruise director, Matt, and one of the Fun Squad members, Shay, hosted today's morning show. The topics of this day's show highlighted the SPA and Pizzeria Del Capitano delivery. A pizza was delivered to the Liquid Lounge in the middle of the morning show and it was given away to one of the audience members. I will discuss pizza delivery as a supplement to this review. The morning show was informational as well as enjoyable.
SkyRide:
After watching the morning show I wanted to see if the SkyRide was open. It was open so I got in line. The line was about 20 people long and surpassed a sign that said the wait would be approximately 30 minutes from that point. I probably waited close to 45 minutes for my turn on the SkyRide. Although the wait was long it passed by quickly because I was able to watch people on the ropes course and see the ocean. There are two SkyRide bikes going at once since there are two tracks. Each track has one other bike that sits at the station while rides are out. The SkyRide crew members set the next people up in these bikes while someone is out on the SkyRide. When the two people get back, the people in the next bikes go and then the SkyRide crew members load the next bikes in the station. This process makes the line move quicker. In total, there are 2 cars per track on the SkyRide, but only 1 car per track is moving at a time.
Riding on the SkyRide requires having empty pockets. The SkyRide's crew members asked each person before loading the bike if they had anything in their pockets. Everything had to be emptied from the rider's pockets to prevent having something fall out during the ride. I thought I would be allowed to keep my camera around my neck, but was asked to remove it before loading my bike. The only thing people were allowed to keep was their Sail & Sign card if it was on a secured lanyard.
When my ride began I was on the outside track. I greatly enjoyed the ride. The view from the Skyride is great and I wish I would have been allowed to take my camera to capture pictures. Carnival hit a home run by including the SkyRide to the Vista class ships. Peddling the SkyRide bike took more effort than a regular bike, but it was very easy. My ride passed by quickly.
TIP: Carnival has cameras setup on the SkyRide to take everyone's picture as they are riding. Make sure to smile & look at the camera or otherwise your picture will look awful. The pictures can be viewed on the Carniva Hub app or at the Pixels Photo Gallery. These pictures are available to purchase, of course.
I will have some pictures of the SkyRide entrance and loading station coming up in Day 6's review!

Third Lunch On The Carnival Vista:
For today's lunch my first stop was the Blue Iguana Cantina. I got chicken tacos with guacamole. After eating my taco I visited the main buffet line, but did not get to take pictures of the food due to the long line. I thought about getting a sandwich from the deli, but the line was too long.

The Fun-Times daily activity newsletter listed the day's lunch options. The lunch options were identical to yesterday's sea day, but I am including the full list of options here to show several of the available eating options the ship offered for lunch:
Here are some pictures of the desserts:
- Fresh Creations - This dining option is located on the Serenity Adults Only Retreat and serves salads. The Fun-Times showed this dining option only being available to guests 21 years and older because the Serenity Adults Only Retreat is an age restricted area. The Serenity Adults Only Retreat is located on Deck 15 at the front of the ship. This option was available from 11am until 3:00pm.
- Seafood Shack - The Seafood Shack is located at the back of the Lido Marketplace by the Tides aft pool. This venue costs extra and was open from 11:00am to 5:00pm for lunch. Dinner was also served at this venue from 5:00pm until 9:00pm.
- Blue Iguana Cantina 12:00pm - 2:30pm
- Bonsai Sushi - This dining option is located on Deck 5 and costs extra. Bonsai Sushi serves a variety of different sushi related dishes. For lunch, this venue was open from 12:00pm until 2:30pm.
- Guy's Pig & Anchor Smokehouse (BBQ) - This dining venue is located on the Lanai on Deck 5 and is complimentary. BBQ is served here. The Carnival Vista had this dining venue open from 12:00pm - 2:30pm.
- Light Lunch - The Ocean Plaza was serving some lunch food items from 12:00pm until 2:30pm.
- Mongolian Wok - This was located in JiJi Asian Kitchen on Deck 11 (right above the Lido Marketplace buffet). The open time was from 12:00pm until 2:30pm.
- Pasta Bar - This was located in Cucina Del Capitano on Deck 11 (right above the Lido Marketplace buffet). The open time was from 12:00pm until 2:30pm.
- Guy's Burger Joint - 12:00pm - 6:00pm

After Lunch Look At The Blue Water From The Ship's Front:
Soon after lunch I decided to take a walk to Deck 9's front observation area. The ship was moving at a steady pace, but the wind was almost non-existent despite the ship moving. This front observation area on Deck 9 is right above the ship's navigational bridge. One reason why I enjoyed this area is because the deck extends out far enough to be able to look down each side of the ship. The view is very similar to what the ship's officers have in the bridge (although this area is one deck higher and outside). Here are some pictures taken from Deck 9:

After being outside at the front of deck 9, I went down to deck 5 for a quick look at the front. Since this area was lower the view was a little different. While I was in this area I ran into the ship's captain. We spoke for a minute and he was very nice!
The Rest Of The Afternoon:
I went by the ship's gym to use the treadmill again on this afternoon. I knew I needed to burn some calories after eating so many unhealthy foods. Although I did the treadmill for about 30 minutes, I did not even put a dent in the calories I consumed. After doing the gym, I showered and then fell asleep before dinner. The afternoon was relaxing and was great!

Third Dinner on the Carnival Vista:
We requested the same table as the night before for Your-Time Dining. Luckily, we were given the same table assignment and had the same great waitstaff as the night before. Our table was located on Deck 3 of the Horizons Dining Room at the very back of the ship. Once again the food and service were great! The dining room was less crowded compared to the night before. Tonight's dinner attire was "Cruise Casual". I saw a mixture of people dressed up and people wearing casual clothes. The dress code was loosely enforced by the dining room.
For my appetizers I had the romaine caesar salad and marinated chicken tenders. The romaine caesar salad is something I eat every night of the cruise because I enjoy the way Carnival prepares the caesar salad. My other appetizer, the marinated chicken tenders, were also very good. The pasta underneath the pasta was extremely good. I think the spice used on the chicken added a great flavor to the meat and the pasta. For my main course I had the flat iron steak. The flat iron steak came with a side baked potato and two pieces of broccoli. I requested an extra side of broccoli since I greatly enjoy broccoli. The food was great! For dessert, I had apple pie. The apple pie was served hot and was one of the best slices of apple pie I have ever been served on a cruise. The waitstaff highly recommended the apple pie for dessert and I am glad I listened to them!
Below you will find pictures of the night's dining room menus. Click any of the pictures to make it larger!

Playlist Productions Show "Studio VIP":
Studio VIP was a show that included a lot of 70's music. Cruisers could volunteer before the show to be a VIP and participate in some of the show's dancing. I saw this show last cruise on the Carnival Valor and I had really enjoyed it. When I learned the Carnival Vista also had the show I was excited. This is one of my favorite Playlist Productions shows. The show took place in the Liquid Lounge and was done by the Carnival Vista's Playlist Productions dancers. On the Carnival Vista the Liquid Lounge has movable chairs on the bottom level of the theater and the chairs were arranged to allow for dancing to occur both on and off the stage. The Playlist Productions dancers did a great job and the show was enjoyable!
The show was done twice. The first show was at 7:30pm and the second show was at 9:30pm. However, doors for the first show opened at 7:00pm and 9:00pm for the second show. The show lasted about 35 minutes and started close to on-time.

After the show I walked around the ship's outside deck area of Deck 12. I walked on the jogging track some, but was tired from the day. I knew I needed to get to sleep in order to be up early for our first port of call. We had a shore excursion booked for early in the morning and the ship was scheduled to arrive in Montego Bay at 8am. Before going to bed, I got some water from the Lido Marketplace.
