The Carnival Valor is one of Carnival’s five Conquest Class cruise ships. Currently, the Carnival Valor sails 4 & 5 night cruises from Galveston and starting in April 2019 will begin sailing 4 & 5 night cruises from New Orleans.
The Carnival Valor is an easy ship to navigate, especially once cruisers get to know the ship. This self guided tour is meant to be a tool to help you familiarize yourself with the ship’s layout. Many of the ship’s public areas are included in this tour. Please keep in mind, especially on the cruise’s first day, some lounges or places may be closed for various reasons including events such as wedding receptions and other private functions. If something is closed and you wanted to look in that area, consider trying again at another time. I recommend moving to the next part of the tour. The tour works best if followed in order.
This tour is not affiliated with any cruise line, ship, travel agency, or travel group. If you find any errors, problems, or areas without clarity please let me know. I want to make this tour as accurate & helpful as possible so please let me know of any problems! Also, please keep in mind public areas are subject to change!

Starting Point:
To begin this self guided tour go to the Carnival Valor's atrium lobby, which is on the Lobby Deck (deck 3). The official name of the atrium is the American Atrium. 1. American Atrium Lobby – Lobby Deck 3 This tour begins in the Carnival Valor's American Atrium Lobby by the atrium bar. Look up and you will see the many levels of the atrium as well as the glass dome located near the top. The Carnival Valor's atrium has four glass elevators. In the center of the atrium is the atrium bar. Two important areas that you can see here are the Guest Services desk and the Shore Excursions desk. Directly behind the Carnival Valor's atrium lobby bar is the Deck 3 atrium entrance to the Lincoln Dining Room. The ship has two dining rooms, each with two decks. Each cruiser is assigned a dining room for dinner and this information will be printed on a cruiser's Sail & Sign card. On both sides of the atrium you will see doors that lead to an outside deck. This area is directly under the lifeboats and it is a great place to look outside. |
Change Deck: Once you have spotted all of these places it is time to change decks. This tour recommends using one of the glass elevators or the stairwell that is in the atrium. The front elevator area is also close nearby and you can use those too. Go up one deck level to Deck 4.
2. Atlantic Deck - Deck 4
Deck 4 Overview: The Atlantic Deck, which is deck 4, is directly above the Lobby Deck (3) and below the Promenade Deck (5). This deck has no guest staterooms. At the front of this deck a cruiser will find the second level of the Ivanhoe Theater, which is the ship's main show lounge. Around the atrium is the ship's photo gallery and the entrance to the Illiad Library. As this tour continues to the back, a cruiser will see Circle C, the Deck 4 level of the Lincoln Dining Room, Club 02, Winston's Bar, and the Washington Dining Room.

Touring This Deck: Once you are on Deck 4, I recommend circling the atrium. As you circle the atrium you will be in the ship's photo gallery, known as Pixels. If you know where the front of the ship is I recommend walking towards the front to the Ivanhoe Theater. Deck 4 is home to the second deck level of the Ivanhoe Theater. During the cruise the Ivanhoe Theater will be used for production shows, large scale presentations, and various entertainment events.
TIP: If you are having trouble determining which direction to go to find the Ivanhoe Theater try to spot the Lincoln Dining Room. The Ivanhoe Theater is on the opposite side of the atrium from the Lincoln Dining Room. The entrance to the Ivanhoe Theater will be near the front elevators and is not directly seen from the atrium until you get closer.

Once you have visited the Ivanhoe Theater or if you do not want to right now, look for the Illiad Library. The Illiad Library is located directly in the atrium. Typically, a cruiser can find a few books and games in the ship's library. As you pass by the library take a quick look in!
In the atrium, right by the Iliad Library, you should see an area cut-out for the Lincoln Dining Room's entrance. Walk into this area. As you get closer to the dining room's entrance you should see the Circle C youth program lounge on your right. Circle C is Carnival's youth program for 12-14 year olds. (Pictured to the right is the Circle C entrance.) Continue walking into the Lincoln Dining Room's Deck 4 level. When you enter the dining room you should see a host station and many tables throughout the entire dining room. Pick a side to walk in and head to the back of the dining room. As you walk out the other side of the dining room you will see the mid-ship elevator area. Keep walking and to your left you will see a hallway that curves some. Walk down that hallway! On your right you will pass by Club 02, which is Carnival's youth program for 15-17 year olds. As you continue walking you will pass by a men's and women's restroom as well as a single stairwell that only goes up. This stairwell would take you to Deck 5. For this tour continue walking on Deck 4. |
After walking in this hallway, you dead-end into Winston's Bar. Winston's Bar is sometimes used for events and activities. It has a complete bar area that is open at select times. For the purposes of this tour, continue walking through Winston's Bar. After you exit Winston's Bar you will be in a mini-atrium area known as the Glory Atrium. In addition, you will also see the entrance to the Deck 4 level of the Washington Dining Room. The Washington Dining Room is the Carnival Valor's other main dining room.
Change Deck: When you are done looking around this area go to the nearest elevator or stairwell. You are at the back elevator and stairwell area. Take the elevator or walk the stairs up one deck. This will take you to the Promenade Deck, which is Deck 5.
3. Promenade Deck - Deck 5
Deck 5 Overview: The Promenade Deck (5) is directly above the Atlantic Deck (4), but below the Upper Deck (6). Essentially, the Promenade Deck has many of the ship's public spaces, lounges, and bars. Our tour will start at the back of the Promenade Deck and at the ending of touring this deck you should be at or near the front of the deck. Some of the main areas on this deck (in no particular order) are the Alchemy Bar, Shogun Club Casino, Red Frog Pub, One Small Step Dance Club (Nightclub), Internet Cafe, Eagles Lounge (Aft-Lounge), Cherry On Top, Fun Shops, and more!

Touring This Deck: Once you take the elevator or stairs up one deck, you will be on Deck 5. Find the Glory Atrium area of Deck 5, which should be right back the back elevators and stairwell. When the tour was on Deck 4, you probably saw the Washington Dining Room, but on the Deck 5 level of this area you will see the Eagles Lounge, Paris Hot, and and the Lindy Hop Piano Bar.
a) First let's go into the Eagles Lounge. The Eagles Lounge is the Carnival Valor's aft-lounge. This area is typically used for the comedies and karaoke. If you step inside this area you will see a stage, several areas to sit, and a bar at the back of the lounge. This lounge is located at the very back (aft) of the Promenade Deck. b) Next, walk into Paris Hot, which is located right by the Eagles Lounge. This lounge is small, but is sometimes used for activities. c) After walking out of Paris Hot, directly across the way you should see an entrance to the Lindy Hop Piano Bar. Walk towards the piano bar and go inside. Inside the Lindy Hop Piano Bar, you will see places to sit and a big piano in the center of the room. When you exit the piano bar, do not head back into the Glory Atrium. Instead, start walking towards the front of the ship. If you are heading in the right direction, almost instantly you will see the side of the One Small Step Dance Club on your right and the Alchemy Bar on your left. |
When you see the Alchemy Bar, take a second to pause. The Alchemy Bar is a Fun Ship 2.0 feature that was added to the Carnival Valor in 2016. Cruisers that visit the Alchemy Bar can have a custom cocktail or beverage mixed for them.
When you continue walking you will see you are in a large walkway that has seating on one side (by the windows) and entrances to lounges and places on your left. This large walkway is officially called Kings Boulevard Promenade. Here are some of the areas you will come across in order as you begin walking towards the front of the Promenade Deck. As you walk feel free to step into these areas to get a better look! Hint: As you walk towards the front, all of these areas should be on your left. On your right should be windows that look outside.
|
Once you have reached the front of the Promenade walkway you will be in the Carnival Valor's atrium. Walk around the the atrium on this deck level. You will see the Skybox Sports Bar, Cherry on Top, and the Fun Shops. If you walk from left to right you will see these places in this order:
a) Cherry On Top - Cherry On Top sells candies, sweets, and specialty gifts.
b) Skybox Sports Bar - This is the Carnival Valor's Sports Bar. Inside the sports bar is one large bar counter, several big screens, a long marquee that displays game scores, and a few other places to sit.
c) Fun Shops - These are actually on both sides of the atrium, but if you walk from left to right the tour will only take you by one side of the shops.
When you have reached the area by the glass elevators or front elevators/stairwell it is time to change decks!

Change Deck: When you are done looking around this area go to the nearest elevator or stairwell. Since you are in the atrium, you can take a glass elevator or take the nearby front elevators. You may also use the front stairwells if you wish. Go from Deck 5 to Deck 9, which is the Lido Deck.
This tour does not include Deck 6, Deck 7, or Deck 8 because these decks consist of staterooms.

4. Lido Deck - Deck 9
Deck 9 Overview: The Lido Deck (9) is directly above the Verandah Deck (8) and below the Panorama Deck (11). The front part of the Lido Deck consists of staterooms, but the middle and back are filled with public areas.
Touring This Deck: After you get off your glass elevator, front elevator, or the stairs, walk into the atrium area of the Lido Deck and start walking towards the back of the ship. If you walk into a stateroom hallway you are deviating from this tour! After walking through the atrium you will come to a sliding glass door that leads to the main Lido pool area.
As you step outside into the main pool area, the first thing you should see is the main pool. If you look up you will see the Carnival Valor's SeaSide Theater and funnel above. The SeaSide Theater is used for showing TV shows, movies, and broadcasting poolside activities. As you continue to walk forward you will see the main pool. On the left side of the main pool (assuming you are facing the SeaSide Theater) you will see the Blue Iguana Tequila Bar and on the right you will see the Red Frog Rum Bar. Both of these bars serve a variety of different drinks.

For the purposes of this tour walk on the right side of the main pool. You will pass by the ship's towel station and Red Frog Rum Bar. Continue heading towards the back of the ship.
As you get closer to the other side of the deck, you will begin to see the buffet. On this side of the ship you will see the Blue Iguana Cantina. The Blue Iguana Cantina serves tacos and burritos at lunch, but at breakfast serves breakfast burritos. Outside of the Blue Iguana Cantina you will see a salsa bar that has a variety of salsa flavors a cruiser can add to his or her taco food.
Tour Note: We are not going to walk on the other side of the buffet, but on the direct opposite side of the Blue Iguana Cantina is Guy's Burger Joint. Guy's Burger Joint serves a variety of different hamburgers. At Guy's Burger Joint you will also be able to get fries and enjoy toppings from the Toppings Bar.
Continue walking past the Blue Iguana Cantina and walk into the inside part of the buffet.
Once you are inside you will be in the Carnival Valor's main Lido buffet, which is called Rosie's. Continue walking towards the back of the ship. As you walk towards the back you will see the Mongolian Wok to your left, one area of buffet lines, the deli, more buffet lines, and some drink stations. There is seating throughout the buffet and several different buffet lines to choose from.
Continue walking towards the back and when you get to a single sliding glass door, walk outside. As you keep walking you will see more tables. Walk until you see the pizzeria on your left and a bar directly in front you. When you are in this area, you have reached the aft pool. This area has more pool, hot-tub, and deck chair space. One feature of this back area is that a retractable roof can open or close over the pool. For this tour, turn left by the pizzeria and walk to the opposite side of the ship. You will see a counter called the "Seafood Shack". This venue costs extra, but serves lobster rolls and other seafood items for a small fee. After you see this area turn-around and walk in the sliding glass doors that are in the middle of the area. You will find yourself in the back (aft) elevator/stairwell area.

Change Deck: If you are able to take the stairs use the aft stairwell area to go up 1 deck to Deck 10. There is no elevator service up in this area. However, if you need to use an elevator you should walk back across the buffet and look for the mid-ship elevator area which is in between Guy's Burger Joint and the Blue Iguana Cantina. If you need to use an elevator to go up, once you are on Deck 10 head towards the back of the ship to continue the guided tour!
5. Panorama Deck - Deck 10
Deck 10 Overview: The Panorama Deck (10) is directly above the Lido Deck (9) and below the Spa Deck (11). The front part of the Panorama Deck consists of staterooms. The middle of this deck consists of deck space. At the middle-back area of the Panorama Deck is the second level of Rosie's Lido Buffet. This part of buffet mainly consists of more seating, but it has 1 buffet lined called Ol' Fashioned BBQ.
Touring This Deck: The tour of Deck 10 starts in the upper level of the ship's buffet. You will see the Ol' Fashioned BBQ buffet line. For cruisers that cruised on the Carnival Valor in the past, this was a Fish & Chips, but it is now converted into a BBQ buffet line at lunch. Find the nearest exit to an outside deck and step outside. If you see the ship's retractable roof you are looking at the back of the ship. Walk the other way (towards the ship's front). As you are walking outside you will see the Carnival Valor's steakhouse windows.
STOP: Do not keep walking forward. When you see the main pool area below do not continue. Instead, look for a stairwell that can take you up to the Deck 11 level.
Change Deck: Take a stairwell up to Deck 11, which is the Spa Deck. Deck 11 is a split deck which means part of the deck is at the front of the ship and another part is at the back. Unfortunately, I do not know for sure if an elevator goes to this part of the ship. This tour will not spend much time on Deck 11 because I just want to highlight the location of the basketball court and entrance to the mini golf course. If you wish to skip this part keep going down to the section that says Panorama Deck - Deck 10 Continued.

6. SPA Deck - Deck 11 (Middle/Back Part)
Deck 11 Overview: The SPA Deck (11) is directly above the Panorama Deck (10) and below the Sun Deck (12). As I previously mentioned, the deck is split into two parts. The front part of the deck consists of the SPA, gym, and some staterooms, but the middle/back part consists of the ship's jogging track, basketball court, volleyball court, and stairwell to the mini golf course. Touring This Deck: After you go up to the stairwell, you will almost immediately see big glass windows outside. Within these glass windows is the ship's volleyball court and basketball court. There are gates on each side of the court that when unlocked cruisers can go in to play. If you wish to play mini golf you must enter this area and climb up a single stairwell that is near the funnel. The mini golf course is directly under the ship's funnel. |
Change Deck: Take a stairwell back down to the Panorama Deck (10). You should end up right back to where you were before you went up to Deck 11.
7. Panorama Deck - Deck 10 Continued!
Deck 10 Overview: The Panorama Deck (10) is directly above the Lido Deck (9) and below the Spa Deck (11). The front part of the Lido Deck consists of staterooms. The middle of this deck consists of deck space. At the middle-back area of the Panorama Deck is the second level of Rosie's Lido Buffet. Touring This Deck: From the area you are at, continue walking towards the front of the ship. You will pass an area that looks down on the main Lido pool area. Walk until you reach two double doors that go inside. Once you are inside you will see the glass elevators and after a few more steps should see the front elevator/stairwell area. Go up one deck because we are done touring Deck 10.

8. SPA Deck - Deck 11 (Front Part)
Touring This Deck: Once you get up to Deck 11 you will be on the front part of the deck. This tour does not officially include a stop in the SPA or gym, but you should see the entrance to these areas from the front stairwell/elevator area. If you wish to go into the gym, you will have to walk through a locker room to get there. The men's locker room is on one side and the women's is on the other. Pick the locker room that corresponds with your gender and walk all the way through. You will come to the gym. When you leave you will just need to go back through the door that go you into the gym, which means you have to walk through the locker room to get out. Since this tour does not actually include the SPA or Gym, continue from the elevator/stairwell area up one deck. |
Change Deck: Take the elevator or stairwell up to Deck 12, which is the Sun Deck. You will find yourself on the front portion of Deck 12.
9. Sun Deck - Deck 12
Deck 12 Overview: The Sun Deck (12) is directly above the SPA Deck (11) and below the Sky Deck (14). This deck is split into two parts. The front half consists of the Carnival Valor's Camp Ocean facilities and the first deck level of the Serenity Adults Only Retreat. The back half consists of the mini golf course that was discussed earlier in this tour. Touring This Deck: Once you are on Deck 12 you will see the entrance to Camp Ocean. Camp Ocean is Carnival's youth program for 2-11 year olds. Within Camp Ocean there are three different age groups (2-5, 6-8, and 9-11 yr. olds). You will probably not be able to see the Camp Ocean facility, but from the stairwell/elevator area you can pick a side to walk out. On one side you will find a deck that has a large chess board and other game activities. The other side of this deck has the Serenity Adults Only Retreat (21+ yrs.). |
Deck 14 is the highest deck of the ship. However, I am not going to include that deck on this tour. On Deck 14, you will find the entrance to the ship's waterslide and 2nd level of the Serenity Adults Only Retreat.
END OF THIS TOUR!
This is the official end of the tour. Have a great cruise on the Carnival Valor! Enjoy the ship, food, activities, amenities, and ports of call your cruise will experience. Things onboard the ship could change or vary in appearance. Please let me know of any changes that need to be made to this tour. The images used in this tour are from 2017, but are of areas that have likely not changed too much in appearance.
