First Morning Walk Of The Cruise:
Each cruise I will typically take a morning walk around the ship prior to eating breakfast. During my morning walk I will usually look inside the ship's public spaces and take pictures for this review. Before going to bed on the first night I set my alarm for 5:45am and a secondary alarm for 6:00am. After getting ready I started my morning walk around 6:05am. I started my morning walk on Deck 5 at the back near the Limelight Lounge. The Limelight Lounge is the Carnival Breeze's aft lounge and is used for the Punchliner Comedy Club, karaoke, and other smaller scale events. Here are a few pictures of the Limelight Lounge:

After leaving the Limelight Lounge, I walked through the Piano Bar 88. The area was nicely cleaned up after the previous night's performance. I will discuss the piano bar in a little more detail further on Day 2's review. As I walked down Deck 5 my goal was to head from the back to the front.
On my way towards the front of Deck 5, I passed by Bonsai Sushi. Bonsai Sushi is open at lunch and dinner on sea-days or if it is a port of call day is only open at dinner. Guests wishing to eat at this venue have to pay extra. Bonsai Sushi is located in between the Ocean Plaza and Liquid Nightclub.
After walking by Bonsai Sushi, I entered the Ocean Plaza. The Plaza Cafe that serves specialty coffees was not yet open. The coffees and beverages from the Plaza Cafe cost extra.

In the middle of the Ocean Plaza (right next to the dance floor) is a small counter that had space to serve food. On my cruise this space was used in the mornings to serve a continental breakfast. This consisted of fruit, meat, yogurt, and pastries. Juice and water were located nearby as well. While the variety here was not as great as the buffet, this is great for guests that want to eat a light breakfast and do not want to deal with the crowded buffet. This is also a great spot for a quick snack or something to drink during open hours at breakfast!
The Alchemy Bar is located right next to the Ocean Plaza. The Alchemy Bar has a pharmacy theme and serves a variety of cocktails.

As I walked towards the front of Deck 5, I entered the Carnival Breeze's atrium. On the Deck 5 level of the atrium are the Carnival Breeze's Fun Shops. One side of the ship has shops that sell liquor and Carnival logo items. The other side of the ship sells a variety of jewelry. Also, the Carnival Breeze's Cherry on Top that sells candy is located within the Deck 5 level of the atrium. Below are some pictures of the atrium area of Deck 5:
When I reached the front of Deck 5 I saw the firewall was open to the Ovation Theater so I walked in. The Ovation Theater was where we watched the Welcome Aboard Show on the prior night. Tonight's production show was Motor City and was scheduled to take place in this lounge.
After walking Deck 5, I walked down the stairs to Deck 4. I started walking towards the back of deck 4. My first stop was the ship's Library Bar. The Library Bar is located in two rooms. The first room pictured below just has seating. The two rooms of the Library Bar are separated by the entrance to the Deck 4 level of the Sapphire Dining Room.
Before walking into the main area of the Library Bar I stopped and took a quick look inside the Sapphire Dining Room's Deck 4 level.
I then entered the main area of the Library Bar. This area consisted of some tables and chairs. Two self-service wine dispensers were located within the Library Bar. Some board games and a couple of books were located within the Library Bar.
While walking towards the back of deck 4, I came across the Circle C lounge. Circle C is Carnival's youth program for 12-14 year olds. This lounge also consisted of a small dance floor, games, and several places to sit. Below are some pictures of the Carnival Breeze's Circle C lounge:
After walking around Deck 4, I went back to the front of the deck and went down to Deck 3. The lobby of the Carnival Breeze's atrium was empty. The ship's atrium has four glass elevators that go up to Deck 12. Although the atrium's lobby is on Deck 3, the glass elevators go down to Deck 2 despite that deck not being a part of the atrium. In the center of the atrium is the atrium bar and a spiral staircase that goes up to decks 4 & 5. On of the sides of the atrium, there are several areas to sit and mini-Fun Hub internet cafe stations.
The Guest Services and Shore Excursions decks can be found on Deck 3 on the sides of the atrium. The Guest Services desk is on one side of the Carnival Breeze's atrium while the Shore Excursions desk is on the opposite side of the atrium. At this time of the morning, the Shore Excursions Desk was closed. Shore Excursions can be booked through stateroom TV's, on the Carnival Hub App, and at Guest Services when the Shore Excursions Desk is closed. The Carnival Adventures Desk is the same thing as the Shore Excursions Desk.

While I was walking around the interior of the ship, the sun was starting to come up enough to where there was some daylight outside. I stepped outside on Deck 5's Lanai area. I expected to see nice water and a nice sunrise, but instead I was greeted with dark clouds and rain in the distance. I quickly walked to the very back of Deck 5 and realized that we were heading straight towards a shower. I went back inside and was worried about the weather for the day.
I walked from Deck 5's aft area to Deck 10 aft. I stepped outside at the Tides Pool, which is the Carnival Breeze's aft pool. This area consists of hottubs, a large pool, and deck chairs. A bar named the Tides Bar is located right by this area as well as the Pizzeria & Seafood Shack are close by. We were getting closer to the rain, but it had not started yet.
Before heading inside for breakfast I walked up to Deck 11. The rain started right before I went inside for breakfast and stopped while I was eating breakfast.
First Breakfast On The Carnival Breeze:
The Carnival Breeze offers cruisers multiple breakfast options to choose from. On the Lido Buffet, several buffet lines were open for breakfast. A continental breakfast buffet line that served pastries, cereal, and yogurt opened at 6:30am and closed at 10:00am. The main Lido buffet lines served breakfast from 7:30am until 10:00am. For cruisers wanting to eat breakfast tacos and burritos, the Blue Iguana Cantina served breakfast from 7:30am until 10:00am. One breakfast buffet line remained open until 12:00pm for late risers, but after 10:00am the rest of the lines closed to start preparing for lunch. Cruisers that did not want to eat in the buffet could eat at the Sea Day Brunch in the Blush Dining Room (aft dining room on Deck 3). The Sea Day Brunch was open from 8:30am until 1:00pm. Here are some of my pictures from today's breakfast:

My breakfast consisted of some French toast, potatoes, sausage, fruit, and an apple cornet. All was very good, except the sausage was way too greasy. Due to supply chain issues, bacon is served every other day. We had bacon on day 3 and the last morning of the cruise.
After breakfast I walked outside and went up to Deck 11. The clouds were dark behind the ship. A small rainbow had formed from the clouds down to the water. The outside wooden decks were wet from the rain. Looking towards the front of the ship I was able to see the clouds were parting. The weather was slowly improving! (Spoiler Alert: The weather got very nice just a couple of hours later!)
I walked up from Deck 11 to Deck 12. Near the mini golf course as part of SportsSquare is the Carnival Breeze's Ropes Course. The area pictured below is accessible only by stairs and includes the entrance to the Ropes Course and a few mini golf course holes. The Ropes Course was open later on the sea day.
As I continued walking towards the front of Deck 12 I came to the Carnival Breeze's WaterWorks. The WaterWorks was not yet open for the day, but would be open mid-morning until around sunset.
Quick Look Inside The Fun Shops:
The Carnival Breeze's Fun Shops are located on Deck 5 around the atrium area. I was hoping to buy a Carnival Breeze model ship as I have been collecting a model ship for each cruise ship I have sailed on. Unfortunately, the model ships were out of stock. The gift shop crew member said that they would be back eventually, but due to supply chain issues the model ships were taking longer to re-stock. The Fun Shops had other Carnival logo items including t-shirts, caps, water bottles, key-chains, flip-flops, tote bags, Carnival Cruise Monopoly, a light-up speaker set, and more. Below are some pictures of some of the items for sale in the gift shop (this does not include all items):

"The Wave" Live Morning Show:
Our cruise director Erin hosted a live morning show in the Ovation Theater at 9:00am. This event consisted of some information about what was happening around the ship for the day. The morning show was informational and entertaining. Besides being in the studio audience, guests could watch the morning show on their stateroom TV or on the ship's SeaSide Theater on the Lido Deck. The morning show lasted a little less than 30 minutes because the next event in the Ovation, which was $500 Dolphin Swim Bingo, was happening at 9:30am. |
Playing In The Winner's Luck Casino:
Prior to the cruise, I was notified by Carnival that the VIFP Platinum and Diamond benefit of buy one get one free casino tournament entry was temporary unavailable due to the Covid protocols. Instead Carnival temporarily replaced this benefit with a $25 Fun Play in the casino which could be used on slots or tables. I stopped by the casino in the morning to claim by $25 Fun Play which was credited to my onboard casino account. The lady working the casino asked if I was going to want to play slots or tables. As the lady set me up, she explained that the $25 Fun Play was not able to be cashed out due to this being a credit from Carnival, but any winnings would be mine and could be cashed out. I played some slots and while I started out winning I ended up losing the money. I left with nothing to cash out, but I was ok with this because I only played the slots using the Fun Play.
After leaving the casino on Deck 5, I stopped by the smoke-free casino on Deck 4 before heading up to Deck 5. I should have played in the smoke-free casino. It was less crowded than the casino on Deck 5.

On the stateroom TV there was a channel that displayed navigational information about the ship. This channel alternating between showing a map with our live location and then showed slides related to the ship's speed & coordinates. Occasionally, there was also information about wind speed and direction.
Second Lunch On The Carnival Breeze:
Around 12:00pm, I headed up to the Lido buffet for lunch. My first stop was actually the Pizzeria because I was hungry for some pizza & Caesar salad. Since this was a sea day, the buffet lines were long at times.

Here are all of the lunch options available on the ship for this sea-day:
- Seafood Shack - The Seafood Shack is located at the back of the lido buffet by the aft pool. This venue costs extra and was open from 12:00pm until 5:00pm for lunch and was also open for dinner from 5:00pm until 10:00pm.
- Blue Iguana Cantina - 12:00pm - 2:30pm
- Bonsai Sushi - This dining option is located on Deck 5 and costs extra. Bonsai Sushi serves a variety of different sushi related dishes. For lunch, this venue was open from 12:00pm until 2:30pm.
- Guy's Pig & Anchor Smokehouse (BBQ) - This dining venue is located on the Lanai on Deck 5 and is complimentary. BBQ is served here. The Carnival Breeze's BBQ line was open from 12:00pm until 2:30pm.
- Mongolian Wok - The Carnival Breeze's Mongolian Wok is located in the lido buffet near the front area of the interior space. This venue was open from 12:00pm until 2:30pm.
- Pasta Bar - The pasta bar offers guests the ability to create a customized bowl of pasta. Essentially, guests fill out a paper form that gives options of what can be put in a pasta bowl. The form is turned into a hostess and a crew member makes the bowl of pasta. Caesar salads and garlic bread are also available. This venue was open from 12:00pm until 2:30pm.
- Guy's Burger Joint - 12:00pm - 6:00pm
- Light Lunch - The Ocean Plaza had a Light Lunch option available from 12:00pm - 2:30pm.
- The deli was open for lunch, but was also available for dinner (deli is open 11am - 11pm).
The line for the pizzeria was long! I think I spent close to 30 minutes in line and there were only 4 people in front of me. The pizzeria crew were inefficient compared to the crew on other Carnival ships. A lady was in line complaining that she waited 45 minutes the night before for pizza.
My lunch consisted of pepperoni pizza, Caesar salad, Green Tea Checkers cake, and a banana. I was hoping to get some Funghi pizza, but after waiting so long and being hungry I took the first pizza type available.

Relaxing Afternoon On The Carnival Breeze:
It is hard to get high quality pictures of the ship on the afternoon of sea days because the lounges & deck spaces throughout the ship are being used. Here are a couple of pictures I took throughout the afternoon:

Formal Night Dinner In The Main Dining Room:
Tonight was the cruise's first and only elegant evening. This meant the dining room had a dress code that was supposed to be followed. The Sapphire Dining Room for Your-Time dining guests opened at 5:30pm again. Check-in started on the Carnival Hub App approximately 5 minutes prior to opening. No line formed until the app check-in started which felt weird because in the old days people lined up as early as 30-45 minutes prior to dinner starting. After I checked in on the Carnival Hub App, I was assigned a table within 3 minutes. We got assigned the same table as the previous night, which I was happy about because I wanted the same waitstaff. When the doors opened we were brought to our same table as the previous night and within minutes our order was taken. The bread choices for the evening were ciabatta and petite sourdough. I had one of each and both were good. From start to finish, our dinner experience lasted no longer than 45 minutes. This was fast and great because it gave us time to make the early seating of the night's production show "Motor City". |
Below you will find a copy of the menus from tonight's dinner. I took a screenshot of these menus through Carnival's Hub App. Click any photo to make it larger!
My dinner for the night consisted of Fritto Misto and Caesar Salad for appetizer. The Fritto Misto was something I have never tried before and consisted of fried shrimp, mahi-mahi, clams, and ranch dip. Very tasty! For my entree I had Grilled Garlic Shrimps. These were good, but only consisted of four shrimp so the portion size was a little smaller than I expected. For dessert, I had a banana split off the kid's menu again.
Note: Lobster was NOT complimentary on this cruise. Carnival's shorter cruises no longer serve lobster complimentary on formal night. This change has been in effect for the past few years, but I wanted to mention here in-case anyone has not cruised a shorter cruise vacation in several years.

Production Show "Motor City":
Tonight's Playlist Productions show was "Motor City". This show had a variety of Motown & 70's songs. The effects in this show are very neat and the dancers & singers did a great job! The show took place twice in the Ovation Theater. One of the showtimes was 7:45pm and the other was 9:45pm. However, seating in the lounge filled up quickly and only obstructed view seats were available on the Deck 3 level as the show got close to starting. If you are cruising on the Carnival Breeze I highly recommend you get to the show early to get a good seat. |
After the show ended I ran my stateroom to change out of my formal clothes. Our stateroom steward had come by to clean the room and he left us a towel animal on one of the beds. My stateroom was serviced by the stateroom steward once a day starting on the 2nd evening of the cruise. Each night he came by and did some basic cleaning to the room & bathroom. Our steward did a great job!
Before going to bed, I took a walk around the ship's upper outside decks and walked through the Lido Buffet to get some water before going back to my stateroom to sleep.

The Carnival Breeze was Carnival's first ship to offer Playlist Productions Shows as part of the Fun Ship 2.0 upgrade initiative. Although the Carnival Liberty was the very first ship with some Fun Ship 2.0 features, the Carnival Breeze was the first to get the new style shows. Out of the original shows on the Carnival Breeze, Motor City is the only remaining original Playlist Productions Shows as Brits and Divas have been replaced with Flick and 88 Keys. |
