After breakfast I went down to the Lanai on Deck 5 to walk around. I probably did 5-6 laps around the Lanai. Since the front area is crew only I entered the doors close to the Ovation Theater and walked across to the other side of the ship to go back out. I sure do wish Carnival would re-open the forward section of the Lanai to guests! There were a few other guests also walking the Lanai and a few guests in the outside smoking areas, but otherwise the deck chairs outside were mostly empty.
After walking around some I stepped inside the Red Frog Pub to take some pictures. The Red Frog Pub was not yet open for the day.
The Wave Live Morning Show:
At 9:30am in the Ovation Theater our cruise director, Shy, hosted The Wave. On the Carnival Breeze, The Wave is the morning show where the cruise director gives information & tips about the day. Shy did a great job hosting and told jokes & gave us information about our sea day that was both informational & entertaining. The Wave lasted a little under 30 minutes and the time went by fast! Guests can either watch The Wave by coming to the Ovation Theater or watching on a designated TV channel in their stateroom. |
Platinum Casino FunPlay Gift:
Carnival's VIFP program before the Covid shutdown would give a buy one get one free casino tournament entry, but after cruising restarted the VIFP program has allowed Platinum & Diamond guests to get a $25 Funplay instead. The $25 FunPlay can either be used for slots or tables. I went to the Casino Cashier station on Deck 5 to request the complimentary FunPlay to be loaded to my Sail & Sign card. The cashier had me loaded within a couple of minutes. I then went down to the non-smoking casino on Deck 4 and played on a slot machine. I won about $50 and then stopped!!

After playing in the casino I went to the front of Deck 9 to look outside from the front. The weather was nice and the water was blue!
At some point in the morning I stopped by our stateroom and saw our stateroom steward had come by. He left us a towel animal elephant and did some basic cleaning in the room.
Lunch in the Lido Marketplace:
Around 12:00pm, I headed up to the Lido buffet for lunch. The buffet was crowded and I saw the Blue Iguana Cantina & Guy's Burger Joint lines were also crowded. I ate from the Comfort Kitchen buffet line and thought the vegetable enchiladas and mashed potatoes were very good. Since today was Mother's Day the dessert station had a large cake that said "Happy Mother's Day".

Here are all of the lunch options available on the ship for this sea-day:
- Seafood Shack - The Seafood Shack is located at the back of the lido buffet by the aft pool. This venue costs extra and was open from 11:00am until 5:00pm for lunch and was also open for dinner from 5:00pm until 10:00pm.
- Blue Iguana Cantina - 12:00pm - 2:30pm
- Bonsai Sushi - This dining option is located on Deck 5 and costs extra. Bonsai Sushi serves a variety of different sushi related dishes. For lunch, this venue was open from 12:00pm until 2:30pm.
- Guy's Pig & Anchor Smokehouse (BBQ) - This dining venue is located on the Lanai on Deck 5 and is complimentary. BBQ is served here. The Carnival Breeze's BBQ line was open from 12:00pm until 2:30pm.
- Mongolian Wok - The Carnival Breeze's Mongolian Wok is located in the lido buffet near the front area of the interior space. This venue was open from 12:00pm until 2:30pm. This venue was not separately listed in the FunTimes, but had the same open hours as the rest of the Lido Marketplace at lunch.
- Pasta Bar - The pasta bar offers guests the ability to create a customized bowl of pasta. Essentially, guests fill out a paper form that gives options of what can be put in a pasta bowl. The form is turned into a hostess and a crew member makes the bowl of pasta. Caesar salads and garlic bread are also available. This venue was open from 12:00pm until 2:30pm.
- Guy's Burger Joint - 12:00pm - 6:00pm
- The deli was open for lunch, but was also available for dinner (deli is open 11am - 11pm). It was great seeing the deli back to normal hours on this day.
Today's dessert station had a variety of cakes, cookies, and jello. The Mother's Day cake appeared to be red velvet, but I am not entirely sure.
After lunch I went to Deck 12 to see what was going on around the upper decks of the ship. The deck chairs on Deck 12 as well as those below on the Lido Deck & Deck 11 were mostly taken. The basketball court and mini golf court were crowded. At this time of the afternoon the sky was a little more cloudy than the morning.
At some point in the afternoon I took a short walk around the interior area of the ship. I passed by the Fahrenheit 555 Steakhouse and stepped inside to take some pictures. The steakhouse has a reservation charge and the price is based on whether the guest is an adult or kid 11 & under.
I also passed by the Deck 4 level of the Sapphire Dining Room and stepped inside. Crew members were starting to work on setting up the dining room for dinner.
The Carnival Breeze's library is also located on Deck 4. This used to be a Library Bar with wine dispensers, but those were removed. The library has a few books for guests to enjoy and a few chairs. This is a great space for playing games in a small group setting.
Formal Night Dinner In The Sapphire Dining Room:
Tonight was the cruise's first and only elegant evening. This meant the dining room had a dress code that was supposed to be followed. I saw some guests very dressed up and others who did the bare minimum to comply with the dress code. Personally guests not following the dress code does not bother me, but it is worth reminding everyone reading this that Carnival's team reserves the right to deny entry to guests not following the dress-code. The Sapphire Dining Room for Your-Time dining guests opened at 5:30pm again. Check-in started on the Carnival Hub App approximately 10 minutes prior to opening. We got assigned to the same table and waitstaff as the first night of the cruise. My dinner for the night consisted of both breads, appetizers of shrimp cocktail & Caesar salad, main course of pan fried striped bass, and dessert of banana split from the kid's menu. I had a side baked potato again, but forgot to take a picture. The food was all very good and our waitstaff did a great job! |
Below are menus from tonight's dinner. These menus were available through the Carnival Hub App or could be viewed by clicking a QR code located on the table.
Here are some pictures of tonight's food from our table:
My birthday was coming up and our waitstaff surprised us by bringing me a coffee cream cake with a candle. They sang "Happy Birthday" and then I blew out the candle. The cake was great, but I was stuffed as I had a banana split prior to getting the cake.
Platinum/Diamond Chocolate Delight VIFP Reward:
Carnival notified us before the cruise that one of the loyalty perks for Platinum & Diamond guests on 5+ night cruises is a Chocolate Delight plate that can be ordered from room service during the cruise. In the middle of the afternoon I called room service from my stateroom phone to place the order for the Chocolate Delight. I had a short wait when I called room service, but when I answered the lady was very quick to take my order. She explained that the delivery would come anywhere between 6pm and 10pm, but there was no need to wait in the stateroom. After dinner I walked into my stateroom and found the Chocolate Delight plate waiting. This Chocolate Delight consisted of 4 chocolate covered strawberries, two balls of chocolate, and two macarons with chocolate in between. |
Production Show - "88 Keys"
Tonight was our first full Playlist Productions show in the Ovation Theater. The shows were scheduled at 7:30pm and 9:30pm. The FunTimes newsletter & Carnival Hub app showed the doors opened 30 minutes prior for pre-show fun. The pre-show consisted of our piano bar entertainer, Danmale, performing some songs. He was talented and did a great job singing before the start of the show.
Around 7:30pm the show began and our Playlist Productions cast did an amazing job! The show feature a variety of songs from Elton John, Billy Joel, and others with a piano theme throughout. I saw 88 Keys last year on the Carnival Breeze and on the Carnival Freedom in 2017. This is a great show and I hope Carnival keeps it around a long time.

After the show I went outside and took a walk around the Lanai. The Lanai was mostly empty except for a few people in the smoking areas or near the Ocean Plaza. When I walked by the Ocean Plaza I was able to see a packed area with people singing along to the band performing in the Ocean Plaza.
After walking around I went up to the Lido Marketplace for some water. Most of the machines were closed for the night. Below are some pictures of one of the drink stations in the Lido Marketplace:
