Very Early Morning Walk Around The Carnival Breeze:
My alarm was set to go off around 4:30am because I wanted to have time to finish packing and still have time to walk around the ship one last time before getting off. I got up around 4:30am and by 4:50am was ready to walk around the Carnival Breeze. My first stop was the Lido Deck (deck 10) to take some pictures of the Lido Marketplace and main pool area. Breakfast was not opening until 6am so I had plenty of time to take some pictures before other guests came for breakfast.

As expected the Lido Marketplace was quiet. When the buffet lines are closed large blinds come down to cover the line. As the crew prepare food and place it on the line prior to opening this keeps guests from getting the food early.
One change that was made to the Lido Marketplace during the Carnival Breeze's dry-dock was the addition of a self-service beer kiosk. However, this machine was never turned on during the cruise.
After walking through the Lido Marketplace I stepped outside to look out from the Tides Aft Pool area. My camera lenses got a little foggy so I stood outside a few minutes before being able to take pictures. I did not stay by the aft pool for long and climbed up to Deck 11 to start walking towards the ship's front.
The Carnival Breeze's outside decks were wet as I am guessing the deck was washed overnight. Crew members were outside doing a variety of cleaning and maintenance activities. In the distance I was able to see the lights of Galveston Island, but we were not yet close enough to get cell phone reception. Since my phone showed roaming and I put it back on airplane mode to avoid any roaming charges on my Verizon bill. The Carnival Breeze was traveling through the Houston Achorage which is where ships wait before the pilot boards for the ship to either go to the Port of Galveston, Texas City, or Port of Houston. It was neat seeing all of the cargo ships, tankers, and container ships anchored waiting to go to their destination. Due to lighting quality I was not able to get any good pictures of the view out.
The Carnival Breeze's basketball court had an open door so I stepped inside to get a few pictures. I think the crew forgot to lock the door because the basketball court was normally not open until mid-morning. Below are some basketball court pictures:
Before heading inside to continue my walk, I continued by walking towards the front of Deck 12. The main pool area of the Lido Deck below was quiet except for crew working. The WaterWorks was closed and would not re-open until the next guests were onboard.
Inside the Carnival Breeze I started on Deck 5 in the atrium. I could see the lower level of the atrium was setup for the debarkation process. Security had ropes setup to direct guests and keep crowds from forming. While I was on Deck 5 I went from the front to the back. I passed through the Ocean Plaza, walked by the Piano Bar 88, and ended up in the Limelight Lounge.
While I was at the back of the ship I headed down to Deck 4. The Club 02 and Circle C youth programs had signs on the doors about the opening of the lounge for the next cruise. I walked by the non-smoking casino annex. This area was a big improvement during the Carnival Breeze's dry-dock.
Since it was getting close to breakfast, I rushed my walk on Deck 3. I took a peek at the atrium lobby which was partially closed with ropes for debarkation. Security was present in the atrium as they finalized setting up their station.
Last Breakfast On The Carnival Breeze:
Today was our last breakfast on the Carnival Breeze. The Lido Buffet's continental breakfast and main buffet lines were open from 6:00am until 9:00am. By the Lido pool, the Blue Iguana Cantina was open from 7:00am until 9:00am. For cruisers that did not want to eat in the ship's buffet, the Blush Aft Dining Room was open from 6:30am until 8:30am for open seating. The buffet line in the Lido Marketplace did not serve bacon on this morning and french toast was also not served despite the pattern being every other day. The buffet had pancakes instead which was disappointing because I really wanted french toast. Below are some pictures from our last breakfast of the cruise:

Arrival In Galveston, Texas:
After eating breakfast we went outside to the back of Deck 10 to watch our arrival in Galveston. At this point in time the Carnival Breeze was slowly cruising by the TxDot Ferry Landing on the Galveston side. When the ship reached the area close to the marina & future cruise terminal 3 we began to turn around. The Carnival Breeze was scheduled to dock at cruise terminal #1. We had left Saturday from cruise terminal #2. Below are some pictures from our Galveston arrival:

After the Carnival Breeze got close to docking I decided I wanted to look outside from the front of the ship. I left deck 10 and went down to the front of deck 9.
By the time I reached the front of Deck 9 the Carnival Breeze was already docked and the ropes were being tied. On the Galveston side I had a good view of the cruise terminal. On the Pelican Island side of the ship I could see the Pilot boat circling near the Carnival Breeze.
Before heading back to my stateroom to grab my suitcase I went down to the back of deck 5. I was able to get a good look at the cruise terminal and could see inside the windows to the area that pre-covid was used for the Platinum & Diamond Captain's Lounge. I hope Carnival brings back the Capitan's Lounge someday after the Covid-19 protocols are relaxed. Below are some pictures from deck 5:
While in my stateroom I stepped outside onto my cove balcony to see if the gangway was connected to the ship. The gangway was not yet connected and the forklifts were not yet unloading luggage. The gangway on Deck 0 for crew had just been put out.
Disembarking The Carnival Breeze:
On the last sea day a letter was delivered to my stateroom that said VIFP Platinum guests were allowed to debark early and could arrive in the Ovation Theater at 7:15am prior to debarkation. This time was only for VIFP Platinum guests that were doing self-assist debarkation and did not check any luggage outside their stateroom. I arrived in the lounge right at 7:15am and a crew member was seating everyone in order of arrival. Guests who arrived in the Ovation Theater first were first in line to get off. The seating was very controlled and organized. A few minutes before the ship was given clearance, the crew members working the lounge made an announcement that we would be told when we could get up to leave. When the time came, the crew members went row by row to get people out of the lounge in the order they arrived. When my row was called I got up and took my suitcase to the back of the Ovation Theater. We were directed into the ship's atrium to have our Sail & Sign Cards scanned by security. Security was at the gangway scanning Sail & Sign cards. Note: For a cruiser to get off as self assist, he or she must carry off all luggage and bags. All self assist guests would be allowed off before the general disembarkation guests. |
Here are a few pictures I took as I walked down the gangway leaving the Carnival Breeze:
After getting our Sail & Sign Cards scanned we exited the ship and went down the gangway. Going through customs was very quick and easy. Carnival had the Smile & Go machines setup to take our pictures. This was the process for guests that were US passport holders & used the US passport to board the cruise ship. Guests without passports or foreign visitors had a separate area where they had their documentation scrutinized by a US customs officer. Once getting my picture taken by the Smile & Go machine I walked through the terminal. Before exiting the TABC officials were asking guests to declare any alcohol purchases in order to pay state taxes. I did not have any alcohol so I did not have to worry about paying any tax. From the time of stepping off the ship, it took less than 15 minutes to be outside of the cruise terminal because of how fast and efficient the debarkation process now was.

Once outside the cruise terminal I walked to the cross-walk in order to cross Harborside Drive. Since we did the Park & Walk special at EZ Cruise Parking we did not have shuttle service and had to walk to return to our vehicle. Here are some pictures taken from across Harborside Drive of the Carnival Breeze docked at cruise terminal 1.
Final Thoughts About This Carnival Breeze Cruise:
This cruise on the Carnival Breeze was great! By all standards the service was excellent, food was very good, and the ship looked great after its dry-dock. The crew worked extremely hard onboard and despite being short-staffed did a great job to provide a great vacation experience. I hope this cruise review has been informative and interesting to you.
