Carnival Cruise Line announced a new loyalty program taking is taking effect June 1, 2026. The new program is named Carnival Rewards and is replacing Carnival's VIFP Club program. In the new Carnival Rewards program guests will earn points for every dollar spent with Carnival Cruise Line. Within the program, "Status Qualifying Stars" for purchases with Carnival such as the cruise fare, gratuities, Carnival Vacation Protection, pre-cruise, casino, and onboard purchases will count towards earning loyalty levels in the new program. Days sailed will no longer be the metric Carnival is using to assign loyalty levels once the new program takes effect.
New Loyalty Levels
The highest level under the new program is Diamond, followed by Platinum, then Gold, and the lowest level is Red. The Blue level currently under the VIFP program is being eliminated.
Status Qualifying Stars for the new levels are as follows:
Earning Loyalty and Transitioning Into The New Program
Carnival has information on their website regarding how the Status Qualifying Stars are calculated so I won't go into detail here. Guests that are currently Platinum or Gold will keep their loyalty status through May 31, 2028 unless once the new program starts their cruise spend, cruise activity, and credit card activity using the new formula qualify them for a high level. This means you are not grandfathered in to the new program based on your existing status as Carnival is only extending it for a time to have you earn more. Current Diamond guests are given 6 years under the new program to spend to earn Diamond status and then are subject to the 2 year period to earn after that.

New Status Is Not Lifetime
Status Qualifying Stars are not a lifetime achievement. Guests have 2 years to collect Status Qualifying Stars and once a status is achieved Carnival will allow it to be earned for 2 years.
